Chapter 49 "You're going to make her yours?" Kris gritted out. “Thalassa is not an object to be owned. She makes her own choices." Clark stared at him. “Of course I know that. But don't pretend you don't know what I mean. I'm just planning to win her over." "Sure. Good luck," Kris said sarcastically.

Clark leaned towards him. "Con, why don't you helpout? You had better luck thanthe first time. So tell me, what do I do to win her over? What are her likes and dislikes? What makes her weak in the knees?" Alden, who was taking a sip of his whiskey, nearly choked on his drink when he saw the murderous look in Kris's eyes as he glared at Clark.

When Kris didn't bother to respond after a few seconds, Clark shrugged. "Even if you don't helpout, a way to make her mine myself." I'll figure "Dude, chill, no?" Alden said, not liking how possessive the man sounded. "You just saw her again after a couple of years, and you haven't even talked to her." Clark sighed. "The truth is I never stopped thinking about her, but I stayed away because I thought she and Kris were happy together. Now that I know that's not the case, I'm not going to waste any opportunity." As soon as Thalassa and Luisa entered, every eye that fell on them lingered, and they could feel it. "They are staring, baby," Luisa gushed excitedly.

It wasn't that she was new to the attention of the male gaze, but during her relationship with Victor, every ta man stared at her, it would somehow always be her fault. He would belittle her, making her feel so horrible that she began to detest any kind of attention from men. She convinced herself that Victor's 'love and affection' were sufficient for her even when he continued to ignore her.

But not anymore. She was done living according to what he wanted. From now on, she was going to allow herself to feel wanted and desired.

Basking in the attention they were receiving, Luisa was still looking around when her eyes fell on the table where Kris and his friend were seated.

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me." She let out a groan.

"Why? What's wrong?" Thalassa questioned, following Luisa's gaze. She stiffened when her eyes suddenly met Kris's gaze.

"Out of all the clubs in Baltimore, why did he have to be here?" Luisa was annoyed as she turned to Thalassa. "We can leave if that's what you want, Lassa. Let's just go somewhere el-"” "No, we're not going anywhere," Thalassa cut her off. "My life isn't going to be ruled by anyone's presence." With that, she sashayed towards an unoccupied table with Luisa following her. She could feel Kris's eyes on her with every step she took, but she kept her eyes focused and didn't even spare him a glance.

Luisa could also feel Alden's eyes on her, remembering how he'd conto her at the office and how rude she'd been to him.

Just as Thalassa was about to beckon a waiter over to order drinks for them, another waiter approached their table.

+25 BONUS Chapter 49 "Hello ladies, the gentleman at that table says he'll take up the cost of every drink you order. So what would you like to drink tonight?" Thalassa stiffened because of the table the waiter pointed at Why would Kris be offering to pay for her drinks? She finally relaxed when the waiter clarified.

"I mean the one in the grey suit." He nodded with his head at the fourth man at Kris's table.

Luisa raised a brow. "Do you know him?" "I don't think so," Thalassa shook her head slowly even as she frowned slightly. The man looked a little familiar even from the distance, but the fact that he was sitting at Kris's table was already a turn-off.

"Please tell him that we don't accept his offer. We pay for our own drinks," she said to the waiter, who smiled like he'd been expecting that reply before he turned and headed back to the table.

Beckoning another waiter over, they placed their orders for two apple ciders. While they waited, Luisa expectantly eyed the dance floor where speople were already dancing and grinding to the pop beat playing.

v Victor. She couldn't wait to hop on the dance floor again after sucia long tof being prevented from doing so by "He's walking towards our table," she said, noticing the man who'd offered to pay for their drinks approaching. Thalassa let out a sigh, wondering whether she was going to have to deal with one of those men who never knew how to take no for an answer.

"Hello ladies," he flashed a charming smile as he reached their table, and Thalassa was hit with another sense of familiarity. "May I have a seat at your table?" "No, thanks," Luisa denied.

The man focused his gaze on Thalassa. "You refused my drinks." "I don't remember holding a placard that reads that I want free drinks," Thalassa pointed out.

Instead of looking offended, the man flashed an amused smile. "You really probably don't recognizeshould be offended because I recognized you instantly." Thalassa finally allowed herself to really look at him until it finally clicked. "Clark." "Finally!" Clark punched the air and immediately sank onto the chair beside Thalassa without an invitation.

"I'm so happy to see you again after such a long time, Lass." He said, and took her by surprise when he suddenly engulfed her in a hug.

Thalassa froze at the unexpected action, and almost instinctively, she looked over his shoulder at Kris's table. She sucked in a breath when she realized that Kris was staring at them, his gaze.so stormy that if looks could kill, Clark would already be dead.
