Chapter 64 Chapter 64 "No, no, no! You've got to be kidding me,” Millicent groaned as she tried turning the ignition of her car for the umpteenth time, to no avail.
She'd just finished work after staying late, only for her car to start acting up now that she was in a hurry to get home.
Refusing to give up, she continued turning the ignition repeatedly. Finally, the car purred to life, but just when she was about to sigh with relief, it died again.
Death, because when she tried again, it didn't even make a sound.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Fuck!" she cursed.
Annoyed, she accidentally slammed her hand into the horn. It blew loudly and sharply, startling her and causing her to jump. Then she burst out laughing.
The situation wasn't all that funny, but she knew she had no one to blbut herself. The car had been giving her warning signs for two weeks with its stuttering and lagging, but she'd stalled taking it to the repair shop. Now it was biting her in the ass.
Realizing there was nothing she could do, Millie sighed and got out of the car. Tomorrow, she would have the car taken care of, but right now, she needed to get home. Urgently.
Locking the car, she leaned against it as she took out her phone and ordered a ride. She frowned when she realized that the closest car to her on thewas fifteen minutes away. She couldn't afford to wait that long. Otherwise, she was going to be punished.
She immediately made her way to the side of the road, watching for any taxis that might pass by. Five minutes later, she was still standing there. All the cabs she'd tried to stop had been occupied.
Realizing she had no choice but to order the ride, she was just about to do so when a sleek ash-colored Bugatti pulled up in front of her.
The window lowered, and she realized it was Zeke. Her heart did a flip.
"Hey." He flashed her a smile that made him look even more handsthan he already was. "What are you doing by the road?" "My car broke down, so I'm looking to take a cab," Millie answered.
"That's too bad." He pouted slightly. "Alright, get in then.

He smiled. "Can I give you a ride?" "Zeke, it's not that. It's just..." Millie looked for an excuse, only finding one. "I wouldn't want to bother you since you were on your way." "Nonsense." He waved her off. “I don't know where you live anyway, but you know mine, so let's make it fair. Please get in." Realizing he wasn't going to relent, she sighed and opened the door to the front passenger seat, getting in.
"Thank you." Chapter 04 +25 BONUS Zeke pulled the car back onto the road and continued driving. After a few seconds, he turned to her with a frown. "Luisa toldabout Miller finding out about your friendship with Thalassá. So, what are you still doing around here? You didn't quit like you said.” Biting her lip, Millie shook her head. "No." "And Miller didn't fire you?" "No," Millie answered, hoping he wouldn't ask her why. She didn't think she could lie. Thankfully, he didn't.
"Are you going to giveyour address?" Zeke asked after a bit of silence.
Millie told him. Zeke punched it into his map. Silence ensued for the rest of the journey-the comfortable kind of silence.
When they got to her neighborhood, she pointed at a single-story flat. "Here." Zeke smiled slightly as he parked the car in the driveway. "Impressive.' Millie rolled her eyes. The flat was modest at best, and her neighborhood wasn't exactly a place to be super proud of, unlike his.
She turned to him, flashing a smile. "Thank you so much for droppingoff. See you later."
With that, she got out of the car, but just as she was about to head sound towards the flat, she heard the sou of Zeke opening his door and quickly turned to find him stepping out. She raised a brow questioningly at him.
"What?" He smiled. "This is the first liviouse tI'm seeing your house. Aren't you even en going to invitein for scoffee? That's very rude, isn't it?" Millie's heart skipped a beat. "You want to cinside?" "Of course." Zeke closed his car door before making his way toward her. "I'd like to make myself at home."
