Chapter 638

Her morning sickness wasn’t frequent, but every time she vomited, it seemed particularly severe as if she needed

to throw up everything.

Just as Rosalie walked out of the restroom cubicle, she ran into Elodia.

Since the video of Elodia getting into a fight with an influencer for cheating had spread online, she kept a low profile

at the law firm and hadn’t caused trouble for Rosalie.

However, the way Elodia looked at Rosalie then made the latter feel uncomfortable

Rosalie walked past Elodia and went to the sink to wash her hands.

Elodia suddenly said, “Rosalie, you vomited so severely just now. It looks like morning sickness. Are you pregnant?”

She tried to sound tentative.

“So what if I am?” Rosalie admitted.

She didn’t intend to keep her pregnancy a secret, especially since her growing belly would soon make it obvious,

and she had no intention of hiding it.

Elodia was stunned. She didn’t expect Rosalie to admit it so openly.

“You… Are you really pregnant? You’re having a child out of wedlock,” Elodia blurted out without a filter. Rosalie

ignored Elodia and went straight out of the restroom.

However, before noon, news of her unmarried pregnancy had already spread throughout the law firm. Even

colleagues approached her curiously, asking, “Rosalie, Elodia said you’re having a child out of wedlock? Is it true?”

Before Rosalie could answer, Elodia, who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, chimed in mockingly, “Of

course, it’s true. She admitted it herself in the restroom earlier. Did you not see how she vomited? It was just like

the way pregnant women do in TV series.”

Rosalie replied placidly, “I am pregnant.”

Elodia shouted as if she had caught Rosalie’s weakness, “Look! She admitted it herself. She’s pregnant!” She was so

loud, wanting everyone to hear it.

That outburst caught the attention of colleagues in the dressing room.

Elodia felt triumphant. All the while, she was tensed up in the firm because of her video scandal. Right then,

Rosalie’s scandal had shifted the focus away from her video scandal.

Moreover, her scandal was partly because of Rosalie. Thus, she wanted to make the latter feel embarrassed at that

moment.

“Rosalie, this is not good for the firm’s reputation. You’ve been here for less than three months, and now you’re

pregnant? Are you using the company to support your pregnancy? You’re being selfish! While there may not be any

legal issues, what do you expect your colleagues to think of you? Moreover, you’re having a child out of wedlock…”

“I never said I’m having a child out of wedlock,” Rosalie calmly interrupted Elodia. “But you deliberately told

everyone that I am. What’s your intention behind that?”

Elodia was taken aback. “Were… Were you married?”

“What were you expecting?” Rosalie sarcastically retorted.

“You didn’t tell me about it! How was I supposed to know you got married? Geez!” Elodia quickly came up with an

excuse.

“Do I need to inform you personally when I get married?” Rosalie asked.

Elodia hesitated for a moment, then suddenly thought of Calvin. She thought, “He has visited Rosalie at the law firm

before. Could it be that Rosalie has married Calvin, and this child she’s carrying is his?”

However, she dismissed that thought almost immediately.

As the scion in the entertainment industry, it would be a main news headline if he had gotten married. There was

no way it would have stayed a secret.

With that in mind, Elodia became more convinced of her initial assumption. “Perhaps you’re just trying to cover up

an out-of-wedlock pregnancy by claiming you’re married. How about you tell us your husband’s name and have him

come pick you up from work? It wouldn’t make sense for a pregnant woman to take the bus if her husband is

available,” Elodia suggested.

Rosalie fell silent. If she mentioned it to Jonathan, he would probably come. However, that would likely make her job

at the law firm difficult.

Her silence only fueled Elodia’s confidence. Suddenly, she became even more arrogant. “Rosalie, if you’re pregnant

out of wedlock, there’s no need to lie. As a lawyer, don’t you think it’s ludicrous to tell such a poorly crafted lie?”

Just then, several well-dressed individuals, escorted by the reception staff, approached the area.

When they saw Rosalie, they quickly walked over and respectfully greeted her, “Hello, Mrs. Youngblood.” The name

“Mrs. Youngblood” left Elodia stunned as she stared at the few men in suits. She thought, “Did they… Did they

address Rosalie as ‘Mrs. Youngblood”?”

Rosalie also looked somewhat surprised, recognizing one of them as Leonard’s secretary when she visited him in

the ward.

“We were sent here by Mr. Leonard Youngblood. He heard you’ve married Mr. Jonathan Youngblood and would like

to meet you,” the secretary, who seemed to be in charge, told Rosalie.

Rosalie pursed her lips tightly. Her previous encounters with Leonard weren’t pleasant, and she had even been

threatened with disfigurement. At present, she had to consider her unborn children’s safety as well.

After sensing her hesitation, the secretary continued, “Mr. Leonard Youngblood insists on meeting you today, Mrs.

Youngblood. After all, your marriage to Mr. Jonathan Youngblood is a joyous occasion for the Youngblood family.”

To others, that might have sounded like genuine concern, but to Rosalie, it felt more like a warning. Those words

implied that they might forcibly take her away if she resisted.

She took a deep breath and said, “Okay, but I have to sort out my things and ask for a leave!”

“Sure,” the secretary agreed.

While Rosalie took the opportunity to pack and request leave, she sent a quick message to Jonathan, knowing that

time was ticking and she couldn’t risk being discovered. The text was concise. [Your grandpa sent someone to pick

me up.]

After Rosalie had gathered her belongings and left with the group, her colleagues in the dressing room finally

regained their composure.

“Did you hear that just now? They called Rosalie ‘Mrs. Youngblood. Did she really get married?”

“It seems like she married into a wealthy family. Otherwise, why would they address her as ‘Mrs. Youngblood”?”

“That person from earlier mentioned ‘Mr. Youngblood. Does anyone know of a wealthy family with that surname in

Strico?”
