Chapter 377: Sapling

“Jormugandr....” Wang Hao mouthed off these words, as he realized that Old Man was not joking at all. “I seem to have heard of that name before, but I could not remember it now.”

Old Man let out a humorless chuckle as he shook his head wryly. “The existence of this creature was kept under the wraps, so you actually hearing about it is already miraculous.”

“Stop diverting the topic and just tell me what this Jormugandr is.” Wang Hao said as he scratched his head. “We actually do not have all the time in this place, so you better fill me in quick.”

“Then here you go.” Old Man then started talking, while Wang Hao just listened, not daring to interject.

The more and more that Wang Hao listened, the more astonished he became. “This Jormugandr is one hell of a being!” According to Old Man, Jormugandr was the child of Loki, one of the powerhouses inside Yggdrasil.

Loki was an Eight Stage Practitioner who was one of the protectors of the Asgard Galaxy. At the early stages of the galaxies inside Yggdrasil, it was Asgard that was considered to be the strongest galaxy inside Yggdrasil. Its peak expert was Odin, a Ninth Stage Practitioner whose battle prowess was renounced at the whole Universe.

But because of Loki’s betrayal, the whole power balance of the 9 Galaxies crumbled, leading to the Ragnarok. Jormugandr was supposedly Loki’s final trump card to end Ragnarok, which will help Loki become the one true ruler of Yggdrasil.

But this plan was foiled as during one intense battle, the Thunder Sovereign Thor slayed Jormugandr, ending his threat for good.

“That was how things were supposed to go... but now I can see that Jormugandr was still alive and is in front of us!” Old Man wailed as he clutched his head in agony. “I do not know how it was done, but it seems like Jormugandr successfully found a way to be reborn!”

“If this egg hatches here, this planet will be doomed! Not only that, but you and me might even be killed!” “It’s that bad?” Wang Hao exclaimed as he began to back away more and more from the egg.

Once he ascertained that he was a certain distance away from the egg, Wang Hao’s started to relax as he talked to Old Man again.

“Seeing the protection runes around the egg... I feel that this egg is actually not the Jotunn’s weapon, but something they were supposed to safeguard....” Wang Hao’s eyes then widened as he started cursing Tian Yi.

S**t, so this is the one thing that Tian Yi lied about! He told me that we were supposed to get a weapon, but we will actually retrieve an egg! That slimy bastard!” “He is slimy indeed.....”

Old Man then shook his head wryly, as he realized that this egg came here to the planet Thrae for a reason. Even Wang Hao believed this too.

For Old Man and Wang Hao, the appearance of the egg perfectly explained the reason for the invasion of some Jotunn in Planet Thrae.

According to Old Man’s story earlier, after Loki’s betrayal, he teamed up with the beings that were hostile to Asgard, which included the Jotunn.

Old Man hypothesized that maybe, when Thunder Sovereign Thor killed Jormugandr, Loki managed to obtain Jormugandr’s soul before it could be sucked by the Underworld.

Loki then must have attempted a way to recreate Jormugandr’s body. In Jormugandr’s case, this recreation involves infusing his soul into a new body that was trapped inside an egg.

This egg then just have to absorb countless life energy to allow Jormugandr’s soul to fuse with his new body. With all the heavy injuries that Jormugandr’s soul had, it might take monstrous amounts of life energy to pull the process off.

Loki then must have decided that instead of letting the egg hatch in Yggdrasil, a dispatch team of few Jotunn would be sent away to settle on a faraway planet. These dispatched Jotunn will then take the faraway planet for their own and will use this as the base on where Jormugandr will hatch.

Yggdrasil was near the center of the Universe, while the Planet Thrae was near the edge of the Universe, so the Jotunn choosing this place as Jormugandr’s hatching place is plausible.

Too bad for them they were defeated, forcing them to be stuck in the Central Divine Plane. Wang Hao stared at the egg as he thought, “Why would Tian Yi and his ancestors want this egg? Do they know about its danger, or maybe they do not know and they just thought it’s a powerful beast that can be tamed?” Whatever the case is, Wang Hao knew that he must not allow Tian Yi to get near the egg. “Old Man, how do you think should we deal with this egg? You are the intellectual one here, so the decision depends on you.”

“........” Old Man cupped his chin as he observed the egg. His eyes furrowed, as he seemed to be hesitating on something. “Well, our first priority here is to make sure that this egg will never hatch. For that so succeed, we must make sure that the egg will stop from receiving more life energy around it.” Old Man said these words as he stared at the runes surrounding the egg.

“As long as we destroy those runes, the egg will stop receiving its nourishment and its hatching process will stop.” “However,” Old Man added as he looked at the runes warily. “These runes are at a much higher level than the runes that we dispelled earlier. It will require an expert in rune engraving to dispel these runes. Wang Hao, your energy manipulation was definitely at the expert level, but your engraving skills, they seriously suck.”

Wang Hao sighed as he looked at his hands. “So that means we have to scrap rune skills for the time being.” He then cast a wary look to Old Man as he said, “I can still see your hesitating face earlier. It seems like you already have another way besides runes to stop this egg from hatching. But it looks like you are not happy with that way.”

“Well,” Old Man gave Wang Hao a guilty look as if he was about to do something wrong. “I really have another way, but it involves you, and you might not be happy about it.”

“Wait wait wait.” Wang Hao let out a cramped smile as he slowly tried to leave. “Don’t tell me your plan involves getting me near the egg?”

“That’s the first step of my plan.” Old Man replied honestly. “What happens after that will be the interesting parts.”

“F**k!”

Minutes later.

Tian Yi and Magmalard were still busy fighting each other, with neither side holding back.

Tian Yi was giving his best as he knew that the longer Wang Hao stays inside the house, the better it is.

As for Magmalard, he had to finish this fight quickly so that he can chase out the intruder of his house.

A sudden rumble forced the two combatants to jump back, as they felt where the rumble came from.

Obviously its origin was from Magmalard’s house, and unlike the energy outburst earlier, the rumble they felt just now has traces of evil and sinister intent.

“@&%))(@*!!!!”

Even if Magmalard’s words were not understandable, the tone in Magmalard’s voice made Tian Yi sure that the current Magmalard was extremely happy. To Tian Yi’s surprise, he suddenly saw Magmalard turning his back on him as Magmalard turned to face his house.

But instead of rushing towards his house, what Magmalard did was something that rattled Tian Yi. “Putong!” Magmalard’s massive body made a huge dent on the ground as he kowtowed not once, not twice, but thrice in the direction of his house.

“!!!!!!!!!”

The combination of Wang Hao’s infiltration into the house, the sudden release of that evil intent, and the reverent behavior that Magmalard was showing right now made Tian Yi realize one thing.

The ‘weapon’ has been activated already! “What the hell! It’s not supposed to bt this early!” Tian Yi howled in anger as his mind could not comprehend what just happened.

Tian Yi was sure that there is no way for Wang Hao to let the egg hatch, as the thing that can make it hatch was currently in Tian Yi’s possession.

“This is bad.....” From the records of his ancestors, Tian Yi knew that when the laae beings invaded Planet Thrae, they were treating this egg with care, as if it was their sovereign.

Several probing attacks made by his ancestors made them realize that the egg was the reason for the invasion by the lava beings! But that is not the only thing that shocked them. With their augury, Tian Yi’s ancestors realized that the creature that will hatch from the egg will be one of immense power.

After receiving all of this information, Tian Yi’s ancestors decided that no matter what, they must obtain this egg and tame the creature inside it before it hatches!

By taming it this way, Tian Yi’s ancestors will be sure that they can wield this creature’s power for their own.

Tian Yi’s ancestors waged more battles with the lava beings in an attempt to steal the egg, while the lava beings tried their best to fight back.

It was during these battles that Tian Yi’s ancestors obtained an artifact held by the lava beings. This artifact was important, since it was a sapling filled with life force!

The amount of life force inside this sapling was so enormous that it was enough to make the egg hatch immediately.

As for why the lava beings did not use this sapling to immediately hatch the egg, it seemed like they received orders to just let the egg absorb life force naturally.

Using the sapling to hatch the egg will be the last resort. But this last resort was now gone after the sapling was stolen by Tian Yi’s ancestors.

This loss of the sapling added by the pressure of protecting the egg resulted to the loss of the lava beings which led to them being sealed in the Central Divine Plane.

From that moment onwards, Central Divine Emperors like Tian Yi had to enter the Central Divine Plane with the sapling and do their best to obtain the egg. “Ugh....”

Tian Yi can be considered to be the most talented Central Divine Emperor in the history, so for those who knew about the egg, their expectations on Tian Yi were quite heavy. Even Tian Yi was feeling suffocated with all these expectations placed on him. “S**t.....”

Because of that, Tian Yi’s mind was clouded with extreme anger as he glared at the house malevolently.

How could he expect that someone like Wang Hao could actually pull a fast one on Tian Yi? Mixed emotions appeared within Tian Yi as he tried to stabilize his trembling hands.

“My mission, my honor, my goal....” Tian Yi’s killing intent exploded as he roared, “Wang Hao! You ruined it all! Just you wait, I am coming for you!”

“You are coming for me? Ugh... Don’t tell me that you swing that way?” Wang Hao’s mocking voice sounded out as he sent this reply to Tian Yi. “Sorry, but I just like beautiful girls.”

“You!!!!”
