Chapter 1034 - Fallen From Grace
The perplexed infant monster was shocked beyond words. Its intelligence was on par with a teenage human so it perfectly understood how unlikely all this was.
Eurig, still somewhat unconvinced by what he was seeing, looked to it for answers which were whispered back into his ear. And while the information he got was as authentic as it could be considering the infant monster's origin, listening to it Eurig couldn't help but harbor some doubts.
Still, he spoke every word out loud and carefully observed Claudia's expression.
"Aldi-Narch, an Angel turned Arch Devil that fell from heavenly grace many hundreds of thousands of years ago. Considered to be neutral in most cases has only shown herself twice to the Old Ones. Has never taken any servents or apostles since she abhorrently hates all other beings but... you're telling me she chose YOU as a vessel for her great powers?"
Eurig's momentarily lapse betrayed his true feelings as a sour expression replaced his usual all-knowing smile which Claudia picked up instantly.
"Oho, if I didn't know any better I would think you were a little jealous, Viper. Could it be that your master is of much lower origins? Let me guess, just some filthy, scally little creature that can't differentiate left from right? is that the kind of creature who reached out to you?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe hit the nail right on the head. Eurig's master was an old demon from Hell but as was the case with all demon-kin, it had low intelligence was only capable of mindless slaughter. Even Eurig looked down at it when he first 'conversed' with the creature.
And to find out that one of the people that he himself had initiated and brought over to the 'dark side' had received the backing of a divine being, an Arch Devil that stood among the top, how could he NOT feel bad?
But what was even more baffling was that this Devil in specific had a history of not taking any servents. And normally even when they did take servents the other party must have something they desired so they were also getting something out of it. So the question was, what did the Arch Devil want from Claudia that was worth making a contract with her?"
Still he tried his best to maintain his nonchalant attitude and keep a straight face.
"Don't be ridiculous. In the end it doesn't matter who our patrons are because the only reason we are here is to meet the promised one. He will break our shackles and free us, just like the savior has said. A gift, remember that."
A wide smile replaced the previous expression of contempt when she heard of the promised one.
"Ah, yes, you're right. So what is your great plan, leader?"
Eurig's eye twitched listening to her sarcastic tone of voice but he refused to give in to these childish insults so he looked to the others instead.
"Spread out and search the city. Stay in the shadows and don't reveal yourselves to anyone unless necessary. If you have to kill someone then make sure their bodies are not found afterward."
The others nodded and went for the door while Eurig was about to turn away when Claudia's voice stopped him and the others.
"For what?"
He turned his head halfway, "Huh?"
"You said to search the city but for what? What are we looking for exactly?"
And it was only then that the others also realized that they had no idea what to look for.

Eurig shook his head, "Do I have to say every little thing? Look for the damned magic circle that is powering the barrier. Follow the traces of magic and you will find it, that's all. Come back to me when you have and we will all go there together."
Claudia slapped her head in mock realization, "Ah, of course. It was so obvious. Hahaha."
"Get lost already, we don't have much time. This needs to happen while they are still focused on fighting those monsters outside."
Claudia lightly tapped the air and the barrier that was placed in front of the door was forcefully torn apart. The newly transformed demons walked out, well most of them. The brute was far too big so when he forced himself through the narrow doorway it completely broke apart.
Nearly half the wall was brought along with him creating quite a ruckus.
The old demihuman groundskeeper heard the noise and came out just in time to see several horrifying creatures jump out of the garden.
She stumbled back and fell down. The last person to exit was Claudia who was the most normal-looking one. Her appearance was that of a mature human female maybe in her thirties.
The old lady turned her head mechanically, watching as Claudia uttered something in a foreign language and the wall along with the door was pieced back together right in front of her eyes.
"Haha, I love magic!"
