"Next time, don't go alone in the middle of the night to follow up on things. Got it?" Rita rolled her eyes. "You say my reputation is important, but isn't a man's reputation important too? Besides, if other reporters hadn't refused to stay, do you think I would've been the only one left there? Sir, I've investigated this matter thoroughly and told you what happened. Why are you unwilling to proceed? This could be a great story for New Capital Times!" Rita could not argue for fairness; she had to appeal to his interest instead. Sometimes, laying out the benefits was the only way to get things done, much to Rita's frustration.

"Instead of wasting time, you should figure out how to thank Mister Sherman for his help." As much as Rita felt frustrated, she had to return to her seat. She still could not understand why Sherman suddenly extended his help. Being the straightforward type, she decided to ask him directly this time. However, learning from her lesson, she sent Sherman a message instead of calling him.
[Hello, Mister Sherman. Do you have tto meet in person? There are sthings I'd like to confirm with you.] When Sherman saw this message, he thought Rita wanted to discuss the matter of the land with him. He felt annoyed; he had already explained to her that the issue had nothing to do with him. Why was Rita insisting on asking him about that? He refused to admit that it was Rita's suspicion that was making him restless.
Sherman replied, [Alright. I'll be waiting today at 1:20 p.m., in the cafe across from my office building.] Rita was surprised by how quickly Sherman agreed. She excitedly replied, [Great. I'm looking forward to our meeting.] Glancing at the message on his screen, Sherman sighed and leaned back in his chair. "Lucy, any updates from the developers?" he asked.
Lucy promptly replied, "Mister Sherman, I've tried contacting them several times, but their responses have been very vague. They refused to give a definite time." Lucy's response made him frown. Sherman intended to confront the developers face-to-face as speaking directly with them could clarify what had happened.

The more problematic the developers' bosses seemed, the 1. no less Sherman wanted Rita involved in the matter. After all, when people were forced to the corner, they could do anything.
Rita arrived at the cafe before the designated time. However, when she pushed the door open she was m surprised to find Sherman already seated inside. She suddenly felt nervous for sreason, unsure of what response Sherman would give.
"Sorry, I'm fate. I didn't expect you to arrive so early, Mister Sherman," Rita said, holding a stack of documents in her hand. She appeared before hand Sherman like a ray of light O dispersing the darkness.
He squinted for a moment, then nodded to indicate she should sit. "You're not late. Fjust wanted to get sfresh air, so I ca bit early." X
