"Why won't you consider a third possibility?" Brandon said in a calm, even tone.

Martin frowned, "A third possibility?"

He was momentarily stumped, trying to wrap his head around what Brandon meant.

"Have you ever considered that maybe she's using the real Yolanda's hair?" Brandon's voice took on a chill.

Brandon didn't bother with further conversation, he just hung up on him and raced has fast as he could.

Theresa was still crying, her voice hoarse from tears, and it wasn't until Brandon scooped her up that her crying quieted down

somewhat. Clinging tightly around Brandon's neck, she hiccupped and called him "Daddy", her voice laced with a fresh wave of

distress, ready to burst into tears again.

Brandon, with a heart full of ache, softly stroked her hair and comforted her, "Daddy's here."

"Mummy doesn't wantanymore," Theresa sobbed to Brandon.

"No, sweetie, that isn’t true. She's just gone to work and she'll be back tomorrow. Don't worry, okay?"

Brandon patiently soothed her with a gentle voice while lightly brushing her long hair. Theresa seemed somewhat calmed by

Brandon's reassurance, and with eyes still swollen and teary, she looked at him with half-belief and asked, "Really?"

Brandon gave her a smile, "Of course. When have | ever lied to you?"

Theresa hesitated and shook her head, her sobs subsiding but still occasionally catching in her throat, though not as heart-

wrenching as before.

Seeing Theresa's emotions stabilize a bit, Grace couldn't help but mention to Brandon, "Theresa has hardly eaten anything today."

Brandon looked at her and said, "Go get her something she likes to eat, and I'll feed her."

"Okay," Grace nodded and quickly went to the kitchen to dish up sfood for Theresa.

Brandon then turned his attention to Theresa, "You haven't eaten anything today, sweetie. How about we go have some?"

Theresa looked at him hesitantly and nodded, "Okay."

Grace brought Theresa's nutritious meal in no time. Brandon personally started feeding her.

Theresa wasn't too keen on eating, but under Brandon's patient coaxing, she managed to eat a bit.

Perhaps because she had cried for so long, her young body didn't have the energy to sustain her, and after eating, Theresa laid her

head on Brandon's shoulder and drifted off to sleep.

Brandon carried her back to her room, laid her down on the bed, and tucked her in snugly. Although he had washed her face,

traces of her tears were still visible, and her eyes were still red and swollen.

Looking at Theresa's deeply sleeping face, considering her unusual crying since last night, and her repeated pleas for "Mummy",

Brandon felt an indefinable unease, especially with her pitiful "Mummy doesn't wantanymore." He couldn't fathom why

Theresa would have such a thought.

Sophia had been away on trips before, but according to Grace, Theresa had never had such thoughts in the past. And lately,

Sophia hadn't mentioned leaving again.

Her attitude towards him had even started to soften, or was this softening and warmth a strategy to lower his guard? Had Theresa

sensed Sophia was planning to leave?

Brandon knew he shouldn't suspect Sophia without good reason, but Theresa's unusual reaction only magnified his unease with

each guess.

With this disquiet weighing on him, he stepped out of the room, grabbed his phone, and called Sophia.

The call wasn't picked up immediately. As he waited for the call to connect, Brandon's heart involuntarily lifted a notch, until he

heard Sophia's familiar, gentle voice on the other end, "Hello?"

Only then did Brandon's heart settle a bit.

"It's me." He started, "Have you arrived at Zion City?"
