Chapter 1709

After a day and a night of relentless searching, Thaddeus finally discovered where his wife and daughter had taken

refuge, and without a moment’s hesitation, he raced to their location.

He found the place where Bertha and their daughter were staying and rang the doorbell.

The bell echoed for a moment before the sound of footsteps could be heard from inside. “Hello.”

It was Lea’s voice.

Assuming that it was the pizza she had ordered, Lea rushed to the door. But upon opening it, she was greeted by

the stern face of her father.

Lea froze for a second before promptly slamming the door shut.

“Lea…”

Thaddeus couldn’t even finish calling out his daughter’s name before he was left standing outside. His face

darkened even more, but he took a deep breath to suppress his anger and rang the doorbell again.

This time, however, no one came to open the door.

Upon seeing Thaddeus’ increasingly gloomy expression, his men began to grow uneasy. “Boss, should we just kick

the door down?”

Thaddeus shook his head. “No. She hates that. You guys can wait outside.”

“Got it!” His men nodded and left.

Thaddeus sighed and continued to press the doorbell, convinced that they couldn’t possibly keep him out forever.

Twenty minutes passed, and nothing changed.

Thaddeus’ patience was wearing thin.

Meanwhile/inside the house.

Bertha was lounging on the couch, watching TV. The incessant ringing of the doorbell was grating on her nerves.

Lea glanced at the front door, then back at her mother. “Mom, why don’t you let Dad in and clear things up? The

frequency of his ringing is getting more frantic, and he might just break your friend’s door in his panic. You know

Dad’s temper best.”

Bertha frowned at her daughter’s suggestion. She knew all too well how hot-tempered her husband could be, and if

he got desperate enough, he might really break down the door.

After some consideration, Bertha gestured to her daughter to let him in.

Lea understood her mother’s intentions and rushed to the door.

She opened it, and just in time, the pizza that she ordered had arrived.

But the delivery boy was nervously eyeing Thaddeus, who was pounding on the door. He was afraid of getting

caught up in the drama and didn’t dare get any closer.

Once he saw his daughter open the door, Thaddeus forced a smile onto his stern face. “Lea, I knew you’d open the

door for me. You’re not as heartless as your mother!”

However, Lea merely rolled her eyes at him, politely took the pizza from the delivery boy, and without paying any

further attention to her father, turned and

went back inside.

Thaddeus’ smile instantly vanished, but since Lea hadn’t closed the door, he took the opportunity to follow her in.

Lea brought the pizza to the couch and opened it, ready to share it with her mother.

Thaddeus entered the room as he looked around at the sparse furnishings before moving closer to his wife and

daughter. He frowned at the sight of the pizza they were about to eat.

“So, you brought Lea here to live in this pigeon coop? And feed her this fast food? I thought once you left me, you’d

be living it up.”

He was acting like a jackass, and Bertha, devoid of her usual grace, shot him a cold glare.
