Chapter 1758

As soon as she entered the house, Veronica rushed over. “Ellinor, why did you guys get back so late?! I was worried

sick!”

After voicing her frustrations, she bent down and gave tender kisses to the three little ones. “Auntie was so worried

about you! You three little rascals, did you persuade your mom to take you out to play again? Your mom works so

hard all day, so you should consider her tiredness.”

“Auntie, no! Mom was the one who wanted to take us to the amusement park today.” Layla clarified.

“That’s right. Auntie, today it was mom who wanted to reward us.” Adrian chimed in.

Layla gave Adrian a disdainful look. “Mom wanted to reward Baber. We just tagged along!”

Adrian glared back at her. “I know that! You don’t need to rub it in!”

Layla huffed and ignored him.

Veronica was used to the siblings’ quarrels and didn’t take it to heart. She turned her curious gaze to Baber and

rubbed his adorable, round face. “Baber, you were rewarded today? Tell Auntie what happened. Did you come first

in something at kindergarten?”

Baber blushed, finding it hard to speak. Even though his mom told him he did nothing wrong, after calming down,

he still felt that impulsively hitting someone wasn’t a good thing.

Thinking that Baber was too shy to speak, Layla and Adrian both rushed to tell Veronica instead.

Layla was the first to praise her older brother. “Auntie, I know! Today, Baber stood up for a girl who was being

bullied!”

“Auntie, Baber was so cool. He left the bully with a bloody nose and a swollen face!” Adrian could barely hide his

admiration for his older brother at the moment.

“What?” Veronica exclaimed as her eyebrows knitted together. She quickly examined Baber. “You got into a fight?

Baber, tell Auntie if you got hurt.”

Baber shook his head. “No I didn’t get hurt.”

Still worried, Veronica closely inspected Baber. She even rolled up his sleeves to check for any wounds.

Ellinor patted Veronica’s head. “That’s enough. There’s no need to check. Baber isn’t injured; I’ve already looked.”

Veronica finally relaxed a little. She stood up and placed her hands on her hips. “Ellinor, what happened exactly?

Who did Baber fight with? You should have informed me about something so serious. I’d have gone to the

kindergarten to see who dared to mess with my nephew!”

Ellinor smiled at Veronica’s protective stance. “If you went, you’d end up in a fight with the kid’s parents, which

would only create more chaos.”

Veronica looked displeased. “What? Are the kid’s parents arrogant? Did they bully you, Ellinor?”

Ellinor shook her head lightly as she coaxed the children to go inside the house.

But Veronica was still worried. She followed Ellinor, asking, “Ellinor, tell me! Were the kid and his parents

unbearable? Did they bully you?”

“No. Don’t you know that I don’t let anyone bully me?”

Veronica paused and thought about it for a moment. Ellinor was indeed not someone who would let others push her

around.

Even when she was influenced by Patricia to make Ellinor’s life miserable, Ellinor didn’t let her off once.

But she was still worried, and she couldn’t stop herself from frowning and pouting. “Hmph! Even if you weren’t

bullied, I still want to meet that kid and his parents. They must have done something extremely bad to push our

gentle Baber to fight.”

Ellinor patted her shoulder. “Alright! It’s late, so you must be tired too. Go sleep.”

“I’m not tired, but you look exhausted. You took all three of them to the amusement park, so you must have been

on your toes the whole time. Not to mention, you also had to play with them; you must be really worn out, huh?”

Ellinor shrugged. “It’s fine; these three don’t have the guts to run wild when I’m around. They’re quite obedient.”

Veronica complained. “Ellinor, next time something like this happens, you must call me. I can help you with the kids

at the amusement park.”

Ellinor raised an eyebrow at Veronica’s upset face. “You’ve matured quite a lot these past few years. You seem

quite responsible. Alright, I’ll definitely call you next time.”

Veronica pouted. “I’m not trying to be responsible; I just care about you. My brother isn’t here, and I want to lessen

the burden you carry.”
