Chapter 2394
People’s skepticism about Ivy was no surprise, but the disbelief coming from Alyssa’s own grandson,
Balfour, was a shocker.
“Tell me, did you actually see what happened in the bathroom that day with your own eyes?” Alyssa
asked with evident disapproval.
Balfour was silent for a moment before answering, “No, I didn’t.”
“So, how can you be so sure someone pushed Mara down? Yes, she looks hurt now, but for all we
know, she could’ve staged the whole thing. You’ve known her for years, Balfour. How can you still be
so blind to her true colors?”
Balfour looked up, a hint of defiance in his eyes, “Grandma, you can’t just label Mara a bad person
because of your bias against her. Sure, she might have her faults, but nobody’s perfect. It’s not as bad
as you’re making it out to be. And it’s precisely because I’ve known her for so long that I can vouch for

In a moment of anger, Balfour almost spilled the beans about the contract between him
and Ivy.
Ivy was taken aback, locking eyes with him as he caught himself just in time.
“What exactly is it between you two?” Alyssa pressed.
“Nothing,” Balfour deflected. “I just think it’s unfair to Mara for you to have such a skewed view of her
just because you favor Ivy.”
Ivy internally scoffed. This man really did trust Mara. To think he almost outed their agreement for her
sake.
But even Dean wasn’t on Balfour’s side this time. He spoke with gravitas, “Balfour, sometimes when
you’re too close to a situation, you can’t see it clearly. Your grandma and I aren’t the type to smear
someone without reason. Let’s just finish our meal in peace. Afterwards, we’ll explain why we believe
Ms. Lewis is not the angel you think she is.”
With both elders taking that stance, Balfour had no choice but to relent, though his dinner tasted bitter
with unease.
Ivy, on the other hand, relished the meal. No catering on set could compare to Althea’s
home cooking. The spread was all her favorites, and Alyssa kept her plate full. Ivy pushed her troubles
aside and focused on savoring her dinner.
Once dessert was finished, Alyssa had the table cleared and got down to business.
“Balfour, I’ve had my doubts about Ms. Lewis for a while, and now we have proof. Someone snapped
photos of you in a rather intimate setting with her and sent them to

Ivy.”

I’ve never been involved in such a thing. My time is split between the office and home; where would I
find the time to be with another woman?”
He turned to Ivy, whose expression wasn’t one of shock. He asked, “When did this happen? Why didn’t
you tell me?”
Ivy almost found it laughable. When he asked her, did he ever consider if he had given her the right to
question him about such matters?
“Seeing you and Ms. Lewis in those cozy photos, how could I know if it wasn’t a mutual affection? Why
would I embarrass myself by asking?”
Her words were tinged with sarcasm.
Balfour’s face turned grim, “Do you really have so little faith in me?”
