Chapter 1540
Ida couldn’t help but laugh at him. “Can’t keep up the mature act, huh? Showing your true colors now?”
Instead of getting flustered as he usually did, Byran moved in closer, his voice almost a whisper as he said, “Why
would I pretend with you?”
Ida pushed his face away. “Alright! Let’s go! Let’s grab some food!”
Byran squinted his eyes. “Are you asking me out for a meal?”
Ida raised an eyebrow. “What else? Do you expect me to go with someone else?”
Byran smirked. “Now that’s more like it! As a reward for your good sense, I’ll treat you to lunch today.”

Only then did Byran move aside, giving het space to move.
After adjusting her attire, Ida headed towards the door, with Byran following her, hands in pockets.
As they walked out of the office, they bumped into Chase, who had come to find Ida. “What’s for lunch, Ida?”
Only after asking did he notice Byran following Ida, His expression changed to one of amusement. “Oh! Are you two
heading out on a date?”
Ida rolled her eyes at him. “Do you want to join us?”
Chase smiled. “Can I? I won’t be a third wheel, right?”
Ida, understanding Chase’s underlying meaning, dismissed it with a wave of her hand. “The more, the merrier. Let’s
go!”
Chase raised an eyebrow, but his gaze was aimed at Byran. “Then I’ll tag along for the free meal.”
Byran’s face showed a clear dislike for this development.
Feeling the tension, Chase decided to stir the pot a bit more. He sidled up to Ida, draping his arm over her shoulder.
“So, Ida, where are we eating?”
Ida replied nonchalantly, “I’m in the mood for some barbecue. Any objections?”
Before Chase could reply, Byran stepped between them. “No objections here.”
Ida glanced at him, then focused back on her phone.
Chase stood to the side, suppressing his laughter. Playing the third wheel was quite entertaining.

As they stepped out of the elevator, Ida headed straight for the car.
Byran slowed his pace, stopping Chase. “What’s up with you? Why do you have to tag along?”
Chase feigned innocence. “Ida invited me. Didn’t you hear? Plus, when you’re not around, Ida and I often have
lunch together. What’s the problem?”
Byran frowned. “I don’t care about your regular lunches. Today, I’m the host, and I don’t want you tagging along.”
Chase clicked his tongue. “Really, Byran? Too cheap to cover my meal? Fine, I’ll pay for my own.”
He tried to move past Byran to join Ida in the car.
But Byran stopped him again. “It’s not about the money. Chase, instead of hanging out with us, why don’t you check
on Belinda? I was gone for three- years, and you still haven’t won her back. Not up to the task, huh?”
On the mention of Belinda, Chase’s expression faltered, and then he laughed self-derisively. “Thanks for the
concern, but I think I can handle my love life just fine.”
In the three years that Byran was away, he was in contact with Belinda, but there was no significant progress in
their relationship.
