Chapter 1868

The car zipped down the road with Byran and Balfour in the backseat.

Byran was only wearing a bathrobe, and his cell phone in the robe pocket began to ring, but he quickly hit decline.

He couldn’t make a peep given the current circumstances.

The call was from Ida, probably trying to check in on him. After declining her call, Byran opened his messaging app,

ready to text Ida an update.

Before he could even finish typing, a message from Ida popped up.

[What’s going on? Did Ellinor really come to your place?]

Byran deleted his half-typed message. He simply responded with an acknowledging hum, followed by, [Nothing to

worry about; go to sleep.]

It was late, and he didn’t want Ida to worry or lose sleep over him.

But Ida knew Byran too well. If there was nothing wrong, why wouldn’t he take her call?

[Spill it. What’s going on? Why would my boss come to your place at this hour?]

Ida knew that Ellinor didn’t like the Howard family. Unless it was absolutely necessary, Ellinor wouldn’t willingly step

foot into the Howard Mansion.

Byran smirked. He couldn’t hide anything, could he?

[Baber is missing. My sister suspects that Patricia took Baber. Now, they want me to lead them to Patricia.]

On the other end of the line, Ida’s brows furrowed as she typed back, [Do you know where Patricia is?]

Byran honestly responded, [I found her once before, but I don’t know where she is now. My sister wants me to take

them to the fast-food joint where Patricia used to work.]

[Then hurry up and take her there! Don’t dawdle!]

Byran really felt like he was always the scapegoat. [Already on it. You should get some sleep.]

[Keep me posted!]

[Okay.]

At that moment, Theo hit the brakes and stopped in front of the fast-food joint Byran mentioned.

Ellinor turned back to ask, “Is this the place?”

Byran glanced outside, and with the utmost certainty, he nodded. “Yes, this is it. But they’re closed. You see that,

right?”

Indeed, the fast-food joint was closed. The doors were locked, and the neon sign was off.

“As long as it’s The right place.”

With that, Ellinor opened the car door and stepped out.
