Chapter 102 Katrina's POV When I said I had a plan to kill him, I didn't mean a foul proof plan. It's been about thirty minutes and I've been staring at Ethan intently, searching for the right moment.
Sarah had noticedstaring and she stared back, not even looking away for a moment.
"If you want to kill, don't make it obvious," Silas said, pullingcloser to himself.
I wasn't making it obvious, I was just waiting for the right moment, "Do something, act normal." Silas whispered, walking away from me.
Ethan stood at the center of it all, the groom in his tailored suit, exuding arrogance and charm.
His suit looked like it cost a lot of money and it would be a shto get sblood on it.
I searched around for Sarah but his bride was nowhere to be seen-likely off attending to something. That left him unguarded.
Perfect.
In the few minutes he was left alone, I would make good use of it and end him.
My hand brushed against the pin hidden in the sleeve of my gown, the poisoned tip ready to end him. Silas had made it clear: no mistakes. The plan was simple-get close, strike, and leave. But as I approached Ethan, my heart thudded in my chest. What if something went wrong, or maybe I pricked myself and then I died? That really sounded like something I would do.
"Ethan," I called, my voice steady despite the storm raging inside me.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtRelax, Katrina. It's something easy. He wouldn't even feel it.
He turned, his expression shifting from annoyance to surprise, and then amusement. "Katrina." The way he said my nsent a wave of anger through me. He was too comfortable, too confident, as if he believed I was still the naive girl he'd discarded like trash.
I was going to be his end and he wouldn't even see it coming.
"Congratulations on your wedding," I said sweetly, forcing a smile. "Care to share a dance with an old friend?" Call it the last dance or the dance of death, but Ethan wasn't going to leave the dance floor alive.
I was here to make sure of that.
His eyes narrowed slightly, as if trying to make meaning out of my words. But hey, it was just an innocent act, Ethan wasn't going to think too much about me, so he would let his guard down.
Then he extended a hand, his smirk deepening. "How could I refuse?" See? I told you.
1/3 10:08 Sun, Dec 1 L Chapter 102 19¥90% 0 The crowd parted as we stepped onto the dance floor. The music slowed, the violins playing a haunting melody. My eyes met with Sarah's a few distance away and I winked at her. This party was fun while it lasted, tto put an end to it. As his hand gripped my waist and we began to move, I felt the strength in his hold-too tight. Was he trying to killwith that hold? "You've got quite the grip," I said dryly, tilting my head up to meet his gaze. "Trying to suffocatebefore the song's over?" I had a knife strapped to my thigh and a pin in my sleeves. If I could get out that pin then it was all over for Ethan.
His laugh was low and cold, a reminder of just what he was. "Just making sure you don't run away. You have a habit of that." I have a habit of running away? Who wouldn't run away from a man such as himself? Staying would only mean death for you and I pretty much liked to live.
I swallowed the retort that rose in my throat, focusing instead on the pin concealed in my sleeve. I just needed the right moment when no one would notice me.
My eyes went back to where Sarah stood last and I was happy to find out she was gone.
"You look beautiful tonight," Ethan said, his voice dripping with false sincerity and my eyes snapped back to him. He was complimenting me? Was the sky about to fall or what? Ethan always talked about my looks but not to compliment me. It was such a surprise to see him doing this. And funny it was rhat when he finally did one thing I wanted, it disgusted"A shyou didn't dress up like this when we were together. Maybe things would've turned out differently." Heh? Did he forget just how he treated me? Was he expectingto believe that? I forced a smile, masking the rage bubbling inside me. "And here I thought your wedding day was supposed to be about her." Poor Sarah was somewhere thinking she was about to get Mattie's to the best man in the world.
But who knew, she could be with a man right now. She had never been the type to be loyal.
His smirk faltered, just for a moment, and it gavea small, bitter satisfaction.
We swayed to the music, the world around us fading into a blur. The weight of the pin in my hand felt heavier with every passing second.
Any moment from now. Everyone were focused on what they were doing and they weren't looking at us.
Now.
I shifted closer, my fingers brushing the edge of his sleeve. But before I could strike, someone bumped intofrom behind, sendingstumbling forward. Well shit.
The pin slipped from my grip, pricking the waiter who had collided with us.
I immediately steadied myself, holding onto Ethan to preventfrom kissing the floor.
"Sorry, ma'am," the waiter stammered, straightening the tray he was holding. He stepped away, disappearing into the crowd.

There's no way he would suspectright? Anything could have happened.
"Katrina," he said slowly, his voice low and filled with danger. "What did you do?" My heart pounded in my chest, the weight of his gaze suffocating me.
"I didn't-" I started, but the words caught in my throat...
Stay calm Katrina. He doesn't know that it's you, you don't have to be afraid.
His hand clamped around my wrist, pullingclose. "What were you planning?" "Let go of me. Are you insane? I was right here with you, wasnt I What if he's just tired? Before I could respond, a familiar voice cut through the chaos.
"Let her go," Silas said, stepping out of the shadows. His expression was ve calm, but his eyes burned with fury. Ethan's grip loosened as he glared at Silas. "What's this about?" Silas didn't answer. Instead, he looked at me, his gaze filled with anger.
He pushedout of Ethan's gaze, pullingcloser.

I swallowed hard, the reality of my failure sinking in as the chaos swirled around us.
