Chapter 2007 Rather Odd

Gary handed the phone over to Ian after a while. "I'm sorry. I didn't know things would turn out this way."

Ian took his phone back. "Don't get me wrong, Mr. Frye; I don't mean to blame you for anything. I just hope you

understand how tough you're making it for us. We're extremely thankful for your kind actions, but these actions

may be easily misunderstood. Cindy's a girl, so she may not be able to handle this."

Gary nodded. "I understand." When Gary claimed that he understood, Ian trusted that Gary had truly understood

his words. That was the perk of conversing with a smart man—they didn't need to state things too clearly. As long

as the other party's intellect was on par with his, they'd easily guess each other's intentions.

After that, the two men no longer talked about Cindy. They simply talked about some work-related stuff. Both of

them didn't talk much during the meal, and they finished eating after a short while. This time, Gary didn't insist on

being the one to pay. After Ian paid the bill, both of them walked out of the restaurant together.

Both of their cars were parked right in front of the restaurant's entrance. Gary took two steps toward the car

before he halted and turned to look at Ian. "Does Cindy know that you met up with me for lunch?"

Ian froze as he hadn't expected Gary to ask him this question. However, he was honest with his response. "She

doesn't."

Gary nodded before getting in his car. Ian waited for Gary's car to leave before he drove off. As Ian traveled back to

his filming set, he was still thinking about Gary's final question. What does he mean? Does Cindy's knowledge

regarding our meetup affect anything that we discussed between us? No.

Ian contemplated this matter all the way until he arrived at his filming set, where he reached for his phone to send

Cindy a text. It was time for lunch, but Cindy was still focused on her draft. Once she got into the state of flow, she

would block out all the noises around her. That was why she missed out on the text that Ian had sent her.

By the time Cindy completed her draft and snapped back to reality, she noticed that there were two messages on

her phone. One was from Ian, while the other was from Gary.

Cindy was rather shocked to see this—she hadn't expected both men to text her at once. She chose to open Gary's

text first.

Gary's text wasn't long, but Cindy read it a few times in a row. Then, she knitted her brows into a frown. Gary had

written her a heartfelt text, and this made Cindy feel rather dazed. He claimed that he had caused her trouble and

that he was sorry. Cindy had no idea what he meant.

When she opened Ian's text, she saw one simple sentence: 'I had lunch with Gary." This was more shocking than the

text she had received from Gary. She intended to tell Ian that she would deal with this matter, as she assumed that

Gary would need some time to digest this matter first. To her surprise, both men had already met each other today.

Cindy didn't know what Ian had told Gary. Judging by the text he sent me, it seems like he isn't really happy. Cindy

felt rather uneasy. The text that Gary sent her was filled with apologies—this made Cindy feel rather scared.

Gary hadn't done anything wrong to her, after all. All he did was to help and guide her along the right path. Cindy

felt extremely bad now that Gary was the one apologizing to her. So, she grabbed her phone and hurried out of the

office to find a spot where she could call Gary.

Gary didn't pick up, and Cindy couldn't help but wonder if he was actually busy, or if he didn't want to pick up her

call. She didn't know what was going on in Gary's head. However, if she put herself in his shoes, things did seem

rather odd. If I put in so much effort to help someone out, and I end up being the one apologizing to that person…

That does feel rather odd…
