386 Curious (Part 1)
“Your wife?”
The bailiff took the item and glanced at it, then looked into the carriage.
Yue Jiaojiao hugged Zhao Nian and nodded at them graciously. Then, she lowered her eyes and wiped Zhao Nian’s drool with a handkerchief.
“Alright.” The bailiff returned the item to Zhao Zhan. “Next!”
!!
Zhao Zhan knocked on the carriage wall to give Yue Jiaojiao a signal, then followed behind the bailiff, accompanying him to inspect the Zhang family and Fang tianliu’s carriages.
“Move!” He shouted.
“Those in front, move aside! My horse is startled!”
A shrill voice came from behind. Zhao Nian, who was hiding in Yue Jiaojiao’s arms, struggled to pull open the curtain and look outside.

It was a girl in a red dress, and the horse under her seemed to have gone crazy.
“Move!”
The bailiff stuffed the travel pass and household registration back to Zhao Zhan and shouted, “Quick, pull the reins! Don’t make any noise under the emperor’s feet!”
Zhao Zhan hurriedly turned his head to look at Yue Jiaojiao’s carriage. Then, he stuffed the three Zhang family members’ household registration and travel passes into his arms and kept them properly. He quickly ran to Yue Jiaojiao’s carriage, placed his knuckles to his lips, and blew hard.
There was a long howl.
The horse raised its hooves.
Zhao Zhan’s brows were tightly furrowed, but he did not relax at all.
The raging horse only stopped for a moment before it charged towards Yue Jiaojiao’s carriage like a madman.
Because they were about to enter Shangjing, Zhao Zhan’s bow and arrow dagger were hidden in the carriage.
In the carriage, Zhao Nian was clapping his hands. Yue Jiaojiao was already in front of the carriage door. “Zhao Zhan, I’ll bring Zhao Nian down to hide.”
“Jiaojiao, stay in the car and don’t move.”
Zhao Zhan leaped forward and firmly blocked the carriage behind him. He took the opportunity to pull the woman off the horse and push her to the side. He glanced at her from the corner of his eye and saw that she was not injured. He grabbed the horse’s collar tightly and tiptoed to ride on the horse.
Yue Jiaojiao kept her voice down, afraid that her shouting would distract Zhao Zhan.
Zhao Zhan’s legs tightened around the horse’s belly, holding it in place.
Several bailiffs took advantage of this moment to pull out the long swords at their waists and rush to stab the horse.
“My horse!”
The lady who had been pushed aside by Zhao Zhan saw that her horse was bleeding and rushed forward to pounce on it. “My horse is dying! Why are you doing this?”
One of the bailiffs placed the long sword in his hand on the girl’s neck. “If you dare to shout again, I’ll take you to jail and charge you with the crime of disrupting the city gate!”
The horse fell to the ground with a loud crash, and Zhao Zhan made a detour. He lowered his head to look at the bloodstains on his body and was about to walk towards the carriage that Yue Jiaojiao was in.
“Sir! You can’t punish me! Isn’t he fine now? I’m not talking about you guys, I’m talking about him! My horse was about to die just now. If he hadn’t suddenly rushed out, my horse wouldn’t have died! Please, let me go!”
Zhao Zhan stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her, his eyes cold. The girl’s voice went silent. She felt the sword on her neck move away and got up, running toward Zhao Zhan.

Zhao Zhan had already strode to the front of the carriage. He lifted the curtain of the window and looked at Yue Jiaojiao with a face full of concern. “Did you get a shock just now? It’s just a crazy horse, it’s already been dealt with.”
Seeing that Yue Jiaojiao’s gaze had shifted to the bloodstains on his clothes, Zhao Zhan hurriedly consoled her, “It’s alright. This belongs to that horse. I’m not injured.”
“Hey! I’m talking to you!”
A gust of wind came from behind. Zhao Zhan dodged to the side, avoiding her hand.
“Young lady, if I didn’t stop you in time, your horse would have hurt my wife. If my wife was frightened or knocked by your horse, how would you compensate us?”
“I… My horse was good! Now my horse is dead! How am I supposed to enter the city?”
Zhao Zhan’s brows were tightly knitted.
This girl’s constant chattering was really annoying.
“How you enter the city is your business,” Zhao Zhan said as he sat on the shaft of the carriage and pulled the reins.
After the commotion just now, the bailiff hastily checked their travel passes and household registration before waving his hand to let them pass.
“No! You can’t leave! I can’t get around without a horse.” she puffed out her chest and looked at Zhao Zhan. “How about this? If you let me ride in your carriage, I won’t ask you to compensate me for my horse.”
Zhao Zhan glanced at her and then jumped off the carriage.
“Jiaojiao, close the car door and don’t let her in.”
Yue Jiaojiao swiftly locked the car door from the inside.
