Melanie already had some guesses. She wanted to ask more about Matthew, but Yvette
had taken a call and turned to leave, so she could only give up.
The meeting ended early for once. It was only half–past five when Melanie left the meeting
room.
Hugh was supposed to pick her up exactly at six. Melanie was about to call him when she
saw a figure standing nearby.
She frowned and turned to leave. However, before she could get away, the figure made a
beeline for

It was Howard, his voice particularly serious and anxious. “Melanie!”
He quickly stepped in front of Melanie. Without giving her a chance to speak, he reached
out and grabbed her arm. “Come with me now. We’re going to the hospital.”
His face hard, he looked at Melanie appraisingly. “You haven’t been pregnant long. There’s

With that, he tried to drag her away by the arm.
Howard had spent several days at home thinking of a solution. So what if Melanie was
pregnant with that broke boy’s child? He was Melanie’s father and had the right to make

Moreover, the friends he had invited to that meal were all laughing at him now, saying
that he had gone crazy trying to climb up the social ladder. They said he had purposely
made up rumors about his daughter sleeping with other men!
Howard had been too afraid to go out for the past few days, and he had even had to turn

He even changed his number in order to send a message to Melanie.
He simply could not take this lying down.
With this thought in mind, Howard exerted more strength in his grip, hurting Melanie’s
wrist.
She was caught off–guard and stumbled when he yanked her. When she realized what was
going on, she steadied herself and pulled her hand away from Howard.
Melanie looked at him coldly. “Howard Smith, what do you think you’re doing in broad
daylight?”
Howard glared at Melanie gloomily. When he thought about how his friends‘ disdain and
mockery, anger filled his heart.
However, he was still worried about the passersby, so he lowered his voice and growled,
“Melanie, I’m doing this for your own good. I know you’ll regret this in the future!”

His chest heaved violently. It was obvious that he was furious.
Melanie did not feel any better. She looked down and saw that her wrist was still red where
Howard had grabbed it.
“Why tie yourself to that peasant? What can he give you?” His eyes were burning with

arm around her shoulder, pulling her to the side.
