In less than two steps, the alarm in the room went off, followed by panicked footsteps outside.
Ernest deliberately pretended to be shocked and raised his hands. "Oh no, what a coincidence this is. The vials in
the lab must have gone missing, so someone triggered the alarm."
1 did not believe a word he said.
"It's unfortunate that the laboratory's broadcasting system was recently broken.
| can't tell my subordinates to let you out. You may be mistaken for stealing the vials later, so do be careful on
your way."
A mischievous smile broke out on Ernest's face.

It was not hard to figure out that he was behind this. How could he possibly let us go so easily?
Ronny had no tto teach him a lesson and merely glared at him before quickly pullingout the door.
I looked at the room next door. "Theo!"
"Please leave with us first, Mrs. Grant. Someone will save Mr. Grant."
He tookout of the laboratory after saying that.
Sure enough, like what Ernest said, two guards ctoward us, each of them holding a pistol.
Next to me, Ernest whispered into my ear," Please excuse me, Mrs. Grant." He then took off his coat and covered
it onbefore holdingtightly in his arms.
Before | could react, | heard the men in front of us firing their pistols. Sounds of shattered glass were heard, and
the sound of gunshots and screams rang in my ears.
| took several opportunities to look back, but I still did not see Theo.
Although | could see that Theo was in the room next door from the walls, the room's structure was surely not
that simple. | did not see any entrance to the room after leaving the door, let alone know where Theo was at the
moment.
| began to worry. "Theo! Theo hasn't cout yet!"
I was yelling, hoping that Bonny would save him.
"Don't worry, Mrs. Grant. There are two more teams at the back. They'll rescue Mr. Grant. We have to leave."
After saying that, he suddenly turned to moveto his right side. A loud crash followed, and a humongous
force hit us. Neither of us was strong enough to resist it and we crashed straight into the wall. Stones and debris
rained down on us. Fortunately, Ronny was protectingsecurely beneath him, which keptfrom getting
injured.
"Let's go!" Ronny wasted no tand quickened his pace while pullingwith him.

This was a laboratory, and there were many uncertainties. Besides, an intense pistol war had broken out.
| heard someone cry out and collapse behind me. When | looked back this time, I finally saw someone helping
Theo out. That put my mind at ease.
| followed Ronny and hastened out of the laboratory. As soon as we left the villa, Ronny immediately stuffed me
into the car. When the car door was closed, the car whizzed forward, clearly already prepared.
From the rearview mirror, | saw Theo being put in the car behind mine. My heart that was hanging in my throat
finally eased.
When | turned around, | saw the man next tobusy tinkering with something. It was only then did | notice the
dark red stain on the seat. After taking a closer look, | realized that a glass fragment was pierced into Ronny's
waist.
"You're hurt!" | exclaimed and looked at the men in the backseat. Clearly, they were not
doing well either as they each suffered varying degrees of injuries.
"We're okay, Mrs. Grant. We'll be there soon. There'll be doctors waiting for us." Ronny even squeezed out a «
slight smile.
