Chapter 1891

| spent several days working from home.

Days passed and everything was calm. Nicky had probably spoken to her mother.

Since things had been quiet for so many days, nothing should happen.

Hence, | would talk to Theo about going back to work in the company the next day.

"Why don't you wait a few more days?" Theo frowned after hearing my proposal. He obviously did not want me

to go out.

| knew he was trying to prevent problems before they happened. "It's been so many days. Those who should

have gone would have gone, no?" Theo still shook his head. "Maybe she's waiting for an opportunity."

That also made sense.

| lowered my head in contemplation and thought of a very important point. "I heard Nicky say that her mother is

an impatient person. How could she endure not going after so many days? | think she has likely been persuaded

by Nicky."

| looked up to observe Theo's expression while | said that and saw that his expression was still solemn.

Pursing my lips, | murmured, "So do | have to hide at hfor every day that she does not show up? It's been so

many days. If | still bump into her when | go out, then it's destiny that | should face this matter. | admit that,

alright, Theo?"

| nudged him.

Theo finally compromised, likely because | was making a fuss. "Okay, you can go back to work."

"You're so great." | patted his cheek.

He looked atwith a half-smile, his expression one of helplessness. "Alright, can we sleep now?"

"Okay." | lay down without hesitation, and Theo coveredwith the blanket. He was still handling swork

matters, and before | knew it, | fell asleep.

My neck started feeling more and more uncomfortable. What was happening?

| opened my eyes, and the hazy environment made my heart lurch.

| was dreaming again.

Before | could react, someone grabbed my neck in an instant. | could not see that person's face, but they were

squeezing so hard that | could not breathe.

Her vicious voice echoed in my ears. "It's all your fault! It's all your fault that my daughter has that scar on her

face!"

Nicky's mother?

This thought immediately pulledout of my dream to reality.

| woke up protecting my neck and gasping for breath as | shook my head. After washing up, | went downstairs.

After having breakfast, | left for the company.

Nicky was still on leave, and the office was empty. The project she was working on had been

temporarily transferred to me. Hence, someone brought over a lot of documents when | arrived at the company.

| had not been here for a few days, and | guessed there would be a lot of them. Although Theo would bring some

documents back forto check from tto time, sof the confidential documents were stiff kept in the

company.

"Thank you for your hard work."

Everyone who cto deliver the documents said this.

| did not dally and went straight to work and tpassed in a blink of an eye.

"Wanda, would you like to eat together?"

"No, just packsfood later." There were still documents that | was not done going through, so I did not

really want to delay the work here. "Alright."

After sending off the people from the department, | continued immersing myself in the documents.

| was finally done when they cback after eating.

"Your food."

"Thank you."

Only then did | start on my lunch. | had just taken a few mouthfuls when | heard quite a number of people talking

outside.

"I think someone brought a reporter over when | cin just now."

"What a grand gesture! What happened?"

"I don't know, it feels like something big."

Reporter?

Could it be...?

| immediately went downstairs after | reacted to it.
