Chapter 654 Something's Fishy
Jolene listened to Rowena’s explanation in heavy silence and secretly disagreed with her
mother's arguments. She believed Rowena's failure stemmed from her inability to conquer
her dad's heart. Thinking that she was different, she had confidence in her allure. She
could make James fall for her once they were married. However, no one knew where she
got her confidence from.
"Mom, what did you do to marry Dad?" She suddenly became interested in Rowena's past,
thinking she might take a page out of the book.
Rowena looked ashen-faced when she heard that. "Jo! Don't be foolish!"
’Mom, I'm done for if you refuse to help me." Knowing that Rowena would help, Jolene put
on a pitiful face.

this?"
'Yes. I'm willing to do anything to marry James Windsor.’ In comparison, James Windsor
was better-looking and wealthier than Brandon Britt. She'd be a fool not to marry James.
In the face of Jolene's determination, Rowena knew her advice wouldn't work. 'Okay. I can
help you, but there's no guarantee he'd marry you even if the plan worked. What if..."
"No, that won't happen. He will marry me for sure." Jolene believed that there wouldn't be
any "what-ifs". Rowena shook her head and said nothing more.
When they arrived at Walter Castle, they entered the living room to find Jenny sitting on
the couch. Jenny looked puzzled by their arrival. "Oh, you came home earlier! Why didn't
you spend more days with the Glasses?"
"Jenny Walter! Wipe that smugness off your face!" Jolene gritted her teeth spitefully but
knew she was powerless in front of Jenny. Despite that, she was not worried, for her Uncle
Wayne had hired a mercenary from abroad that would help get rid of this bitch.
'When Jenny's out of the picture, I'd still be the heir of Walter Inc even if I'm married to
James," she thought gleefully.
Jenny raised an eyebrow in amusement. Jolene's empty threats never evoked any emotion
in her. "Why would I be smug? You, on the other hand, have the right to be smug because
you're getting married soon. You must be over the moon."
Jolene's expression soured upon hearing that. Rowena shook her head at her daughter and
held her back. Then, she turned to Jenny. "Jenny, I know you never liked Jo, but we're
family. Let's not make things awkward."
'Are you threatening me now?" Jenny smirked and looked Rowena in the eye. Somehow,
she had a look that scared Rowena. Jenny was younger than her but exuded an imposing

'You're overthinking. Why would I threaten you?’ The last thing she needed was a fight. At
this moment, she needed to focus on the plan to get Jolene married to James Windsor. To
do so, she wanted to avoid any arguments that might attract Jenny's unwanted attention.
Jenny didn't press on after Rowena conceded. "Is that so? Great. We're a few days away
from the engagement party. My dear sister, you need to start making preparations."
Smiling, she purposely provoked Jolene.
Worried that Jenny might anger Jolene more, Rowena dragged Jolene back to the bedroom.
Jenny snickered when they left. How real of the Glasses to kick Rowena and Jolene out
after one day! The more she mulled over Randy's proposed partnership, the more wary
she grew. The selfish and materialistic Glasses wouldn't share the profits from a project
they had bagged-simply impossible.
'Something's fishy!" Jenny thought.
