180 I’M NOT CHEAP
Zhu Ge sounded confident in his opinion, and Bai Chen knew that he couldn’t ignore the possibility when the man was this serious.
“What evidence do you have?” The Werewolf Prince asked.
“Fried fish,” replied Zhu Ge.
“...” Bai Chen fell silent.
Bai Chen thought that the man wearing the red hanfu had finally stopped playing around, but perhaps it was just an illusion since the man could even mention food in this situation.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Can you be more serious? It’s not even lunchtime yet, and we can discuss our lunch menu later,” Bai Chen irritatedly replied to the taller man.
The man who had long brown hair did sound annoyed, but Zhu Ge only frowned as he replied, “I’m not talking about food, but I’m talking about the evidence I have about Ma Qiao’s crimes.”
Now, Bai Chen once again had a serious expression on his face as Zhu Ge denied his accusations. When the taller man spoke of fried fish, the man indeed did not show the slightest hint of jokes on his face, and that was why Bai Chen quickly changed his opinion about the man joking in this situation.
“What fried fish you are talking about?” The young Prince finally asked again while giving Zhu Ge a chance to explain the details.
.....
“Do you still remember how I threw your fried fish into the fish pond in the garden pavilion a few weeks ago?” Instead of answering Bai Chen’s question, Zhu Ge asked back, and Bai Chen furrowed his brows as he tried to gather his memories.
He still remembered that moment. As Zhu Ge had just said, the incident happened a few weeks ago in the garden pavilion, and he was furious when the man in red suddenly threw his precious food into the pond, letting the fried fish swim with the other fish in the pond.
“I remember,” replied the brown-haired Prince. “Back then, you threw my fish into the pond because you didn’t like fish. Did you lie to me then?”
The first theory that formed in Bai Chen’s head after hearing Zhu Ge remind him of the incident was how that man might have lied to him back then. Bai Chen actually had his own suspicions when he witnessed how the black-haired man suddenly threw the fish into the water, and even if the man voiced his reasons, that suspicion was still in his heart.
However, he did not question Zhu Ge back then for some reason, and that was why he almost forgot that he assumed that Zhu Ge had lied to him back then.
“You can tell that I lied to you back then, but I had no ill intentions for you when I lied to you,” Zhu Ge calmly answered his question, and Bai Chen snorted at that.
“You confessed that you lied to me back then, and that’s possible if you lied to me now too, right? How can you be so sure that I will believe you after you admit that you lied to me a few weeks ago?” Bai Chen sounded sarcastic, and Zhu Ge couldn’t immediately respond after hearing the sarcasm.
The pair of brown eyes continued to stare at those blue ones, but it wasn’t long before the owner of the brown beads suddenly sighed before walking away from the man wearing the white hanfu.
Bai Chen was still frozen in place. He was too speechless because the other man had just left him without saying anything, but then he blinked his eyes in confusion before he used his hands to lift his white robes and immediately dashed towards the taller man who was walking fast in front of him.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Hi!” The Prince immediately exclaimed when he was finally able to walk beside the taller man. “Why did you suddenly leave me without answering my questions? Do you think I’m just wasting your precious time with my questions?”
Bai Chen sounded annoyed when he voiced the question, and he even subconsciously pouted as he continued to walk beside his young man. However, Zhu Ge only glanced at him without any intention of stopping his steps.
“You are right,” the man in red confirmed as he looked ahead once more. “You don’t believe me, and there’s no point in explaining everything to you. It’s a complete waste of my time.”
“...” Bai Chen fell silent again.
It seemed that Zhu Ge was sulking from his sarcasm earlier, and Bai Chen was trying to work his brains out to comfort the man so that he would stop being angry with him.
He bit his lower lip for a solution, but then he raised his eyebrows before bringing his body to jump onto Zhu Ge’s back. The owner of the broad back was taken aback by the Prince’s sudden movement, but fortunately, his balance was excellent, and that was why he managed to maintain his position instead of falling to the ground.
Finally stopping in his tracks, Zhu Ge turned his head to see how Bai Chen was carelessly hugging his neck as his legs wrapped around his body like a koala. His brown eyes glanced around him, and he could see that the path they were taking was quite lonely, and maybe that was the reason why the arrogant Prince was able to start a skinship between them.
“What are you doing? Are you trying to bribe me?” Zhu Ge asked coldly as he kept glancing at the younger man who was still hugging his neck from behind.
“Mhm,” Bai Chen confirmed. “I’m trying to bribe you to keep telling me about the fish. Now, will you stop sulking and continue to tell me the details about it?”
The way Bai Chen tried to bribe the taller man was quite ridiculous, but Zhu Ge only raised an eyebrow as he replied, “Did you think I would listen to you just because you suddenly jumped on my back? I’m not that cheap, Bai Chen. If you want me to continue, then you should at least kiss me on the cheek.”
