Chapter 733

"Mr. Johnson."

"How is she doing?"

"She's alright now..."

Seated in her wheelchair, Caroline lifted her gaze towards the door upon hearing the commotion.

"Caroline?"

Gilbert, in a rush, entered the room, his eyes filled with lingering concern and panic as they met Caroline's. "You

made it?"

A smile played at the corners of Caroline's lips, radiating warmth from her heart, "Scared you, didn't 1?"

She wheeled herself forward a few steps, slightly embarrassed, "Sorry, | was feeling under the weather earlier.

The nurses overreacted and called you... I'm feeling much better now." Gilbert watched her for a moment,

reassured by her appearance that she was indeed alright, and nodded.

"That's good."

He turned and took a few steps toward the couch, sitting down. The act of loosening his tie betrayed his less-

than-pleasant mood.

"What's wrong?" Caroline raised an eyebrow, "You seem upset... Is it because of me?"

"No, not at all..." Gilbert instinctively shook his head.

"Don't deny it."

With a gentle smile, Caroline chided, "If | can't even tell when you're troubled after all these years, then what's

the point?" Gilbert stayed silent.

"What's bothering you?" Caroline's smile faded as she pressed on, "Can't you share it with me?"

He sighed softly, his gaze dropping, "Actually, you don't have to say it. | can guess it's about Sherilyn, right?"

Gilbert, taken aback, looked up, ready to deny it.

"I've seen it..."

Caroline spoke before he could, "The whole buzz about that guy visiting her on set. It's been all over the place."

Though it had been quietly squashed down.

Without asking, she knew Gilbert had someone take care of it.

She continued, "Did you go see her? Did you find out what was really going on?"

With furrowed brows, Gilbert remained noncommittal, "Just an admirer of hers, a minor issue."

"Really?"

Caroline smirked, "Your expression doesn't seem like it's a minor issue."

Gilbert paused for a moment, then stopped trying to argue; his mood was indeed sour.

He had forced Sherilyn into accepting his proposal, but her attitude was clearly resistant.

What if this situation didn't improve? How were they supposed to move forward?

A couple constantly at odds, doomed to becbitter partners?

After a brief silence, Caroline wheeled closer to him.

"Gilbert."

Expecting consolation, Gilbert offered a weak smile, "I'm fine..."

"Shouldn't you guys break up?"

Out of the blue, Caroline dropped this bombshell.

"?" Gilbert's eyes widened in surprise, "We just had a small argument, it's not that serious..."

"Is it worth it?"

Frowning, Caroline cut him off. "Ever since you two got together, it's been nothing but fights. You're always upset

because of her, and she won't make an effort... | don't understand why you keep dragging this on." Gilbert was

taken aback by her words, his gaze intensifying.

"Gilbert."

Caroline suddenly smiled, "We're alike, clinging too much to love. But really, we don't have to be so stubborn. If a

relationship isn't right, it's better to let go sooner than later. The future is still long, right?" "Gilbert..."

His heart skipped, his lips pressing into a thin line. "Gilbert, let go of Sherilyn, just like | let go of Francis..."
