Chapter 831 Even In Her Dreams Emelie was placing her trust in her to seek justice, but Ashley couldn't bring herself to make any promises.
She closed her eyes. How could she fight for justice when she couldn't even bring herself to step into a courtroom? Mona watched Ashley leave and murmured, "Emelie, do you think Ashley will ever be the sagain? I miss the cool, composed woman who would occasionally say something completely unexpected and make us laugh." Emelie shook her head. She didn't know.
Everyone's situation was different. No one could truly understand what someone else had gone through. Ashley had lost her baby she carried for six months, and the career she had been so proud of was ruined.
Emelie turned around and called Elias, explaining Ashley's current state to him. Before she ended the call, she emphasized, "You need to be careful with her. She's in a very dark place right now, just like I was back then." Emelie could recognize Ashley's lack of will to live because she had been there herself. And back then, she had cut off her own finger.
After they hung up, Elias lit a cigarette. But just after just one puff, he remembered how much Ashley disliked the smell of cigarette smoke. He put it out and tossed it into a nearby trash can.

He set his alarm for 6 AM, but only on vibrate. He tucked the phone into his shirt pocket, so the moment it buzzed, he would wake up and leave before Ashley could see him.
Indeed, Ashley didn't want to see him.
Three years ago, she had asked for a divorce, and it had taken all his efforts to change her mind.
For a while, they had been so in love. They couldn't stay away from each other and eagerly anticipated the arrival of their child.
She told him that she didn't feel anything for him anymore, that she didn't love and didn't want him anymore.
Elias couldn't understand how she could be so heartless, discarding him like an old, unwanted toy. He had called out to her so many times, but she remained unmoved.
Like a stray dog, Elias would disappear during the day, staying out of her sight but keeping watch over her from afar. At night, he would sneak back into their honce she was asleep.
But perhaps her meeting with Emelie today had stirred up memories of the courtroom attack from three years ago, Ashley had a nightmare.
In her dream, she once again saw the relative of the defendant lifting a chair and smashing it into her abdomen. She felt that unbearable pain spreading through her body.
