The City Hall, Diffast
Jake and Myriad Arrows were behind the counter, waiting for the receptionist to address them. They had to wait, unlike the last time that Jake was here.
More and more players thought that they could create their own guild, and now that a guild without any visible backing like Bright Horizon was so popular, who didn't want to become the next big thing?
After a few minutes, the receptionist came to Jake.
"Forgive us, Baron King. If we knew that a noble had come here, we wouldn't have kept you waiting for so long." The receptionist apologized immediately.
"That is not a problem. I wish to purchase some land." Jake said.
"Not in the middle of the city. Look at the outskirts. I want a good bang for my buck." Jake said.
"Yeah. For a head quarters, you don't need the same conditions that you want for a store." Myriad Arrows nodded.
"How big a land do you wish to purchase, Baron?" The woman asked.
"What is the most that I can get for eight thousand gold coins?" Jake asked.
"We have a land of forty thousand square feet right next to the city gates. It is a stretch of empty land that you might have seen before." The receptionist nodded.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Wonderful. And how much do guild stables cost again?" Jake asked.
"Two thousand gold coins for the basic stables, that can handle unto ten tamed monsters."
"Then we will take the land, and the stables on one corner of the land. A total of ten thousand gold coins?" Jake asked.
"That is right. And we also offer big discounts on building purchases. A building on that land can be had for as little as five thousand gold coins." The receptionist said.
"No thanks." Jake shook his head. He didn't need to buy a building.
"I see. Then a stables and the land will come to a total of ten thousand gold coins." The receptionist nodded.
Jake smiled as he handed his bank card from Riech. The receptionist took it and a moment later, returned it. Thank you for your purchase. The land and the stables are ready for you.
"I also want a building there with this permit." Jake handed over the building permit that he got when he purchased the store all those weeks ago.
This was what he was waiting to use. It wouldn't show its true use if he just used it on the little land that he had where he had his store.
He wanted to use it for all that it was worth.
A building that was five stories tall in that big a land? It could house thousands of people, and would be perfect for a guild headquarters. It was exactly what he needed for now.
And more importantly, it was a show of strength. Bright Horizon was going to be the talk of the town once again.
"I understand. Do you wish to make any changes to the building structure? You are allowed to design the building however you wish." The receptionist said.
Jake nodded and he tapped a few things on his screen.
"We have received the building details that you have selected. The building will be ready for you when you arrive. And the sign that you wish to have at the top of the building will be a hundred coin extra." The receptionist said.
"A cheap price to pay." Jake said as he handed the card again.
The purchase was over, and Jake was done here.
"Fine then. Now, do you want to see the headquarters?" Jake asked.
"You just spent ten thousand gold coins." Myriad Arrows stammered.
"Yes. I know that. It was my money." Jake nodded.
"Ho- And that ite- you - You had an item like that? A free building? How over powered is that?" Myriad Arrows shouted.
"It is what it is. I gave it to you, and you just didn't see what I handed to you." Jake smiled.
"This is.. Fine. You already had the building specifications ready for this? Since when? We were in the forest for five days. Surely, you had the specifications ready before this." Myriad Arrows asked.
"Indeed. I just had to buy a larger plot so that the stables could be fit in. So we will have the stables on one side, the building on the other, and a nice training field in the middle along with nice gardens to top it all off."
"We don't want the building to look like a corporate office, do we? This is the head quarters of the guild that wants to change the world. The guild that plans to head an alliance of so many big corporations. We also need to make a statement with this building." Jake said.
"Fine then. Let us get going. I really want to see this building. And now that it is so big, I hope I finally get my own office?" Myriad Arrows looked at Jake expectantly.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Your own office? What are you going to do with your own office? You should have told me that before I submitted the request." Jake shook his head.
"What? I am the guild co leader! I can't keep standing next to you like I am your assistant!" Myriad Arrows protested.
Jake snickered as he shook his head.
"You- you are joking with me right? You are joking. I have my own office, right?" Myriad Arrows asked.
"Let us get going. Once you are inside, you will see." Jake said.
"Fine." Myriad Arrows sighed.
They left the city hall, Myriad Arrows sulken, and Jake skipping with expectations.
Behind them, dozens of players were just shocked still.
After a while, they got out of their stupor.
"I heard them correctly right? Did the receptionist just say that they paid ten thousand gold coins?" One of them said.
"Those two.. aren't they from Bright Horizon? Are they getting their new headquarters? That was what they were talking about right?" Another added.
"We have to see this!"
