The zombie leader's sword slowly dimmed down as he looked away. A barrage of silver arrows were hailing down on him, aimed at his eyes, nose, and mouth.
"Which coward attacks like this?" the zombie leader shouted and looked back at Jake forcefully.
With a wave of his hand, the next wave of arrows flew away, deflected.
"Show yourself, and after I am done with this one, I will take care of you as well." he shouted once more.
"Looks like you are keeping all the good stuff to yourself, guild master." Another familiar voice popped up next to Jake.
"Kierch. I guess you two were the reason this pink mist subsided?" Jake asked, not even turning to his left, where the sound came from.
"Yep. We were held back, taking care of all of those monsters. There were quite a few of them, so after we got your message, we knew that we had to take care of them before we came to help you. Else, the pink mist could threaten to disrupt us again." Kierch said.
"Good. You did the right thing. I am sure that if this one here dies, the other zombies will retreat like the wolves did. But I just need to defeat it. It is way too strong for me to go against it on my own." Jake said.
"It's a boss, you mean?" Kierch asked.
"Not exactly. I am pretty sure this is the subordinate to the main boss. Some Majesty." Jake said.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"You heard of him too? We just came out of a discussion involving him. Some king that both this monster and the other monsters listen to. That means he is probably the main boss of this checkpoint." Kierch said.
"I am not so sure about that. First, we need to take care of this beast right here. He transformed, and is faster and stronger than before. I mean, you probably didn't see him before he transformed, but he is fast and strong, is all you need to know." Jake said.
"Got it. Myriad Arrows can provide us with cover as he attack him from both flanks. He will not be able to take us both on, if we attack him together." Kierch nodded.
"That is exactly what I want. Let us get to work." Jake nodded.
They both looked at the immobile Zombie leader who was just looking around, trying to find the source of these endless arrows.
"I wonder, just how unfair his his class? How can he have so many arrows? Or did he just blow all of his money on arrows to stock on them?" Jake wondered as he started moving to the right of the zombie leader.
"You cowards. Now you are double teaming me?" The zombie leader shouted.
"It was't cowardly when all the zombies around me attacked me, but now, this is unfair? Well, I guess there is nothing we can do about it either way." Jake chuckled as he rushed forward.
This time, he had a new found confidence. With support from all sides, he knew that now, he had a chance to defeat this monster.
Rushing in, he slashed forward.
"Despairing Strike!"
Jake's sword was met with the zombie leader's own, which rattled even more. It was on the verge of breaking, and perhaps it would with a few more attacks.
But that was no longer how Jake intended to go about things.
Behind the zombie leader now, two thin swords cut across his back, carving his flesh, and shaving off health points.
"You…" the zombie growled, but did not turn back immediately. Instead, he used his sword to swing back at Kierch.
"Retreat! Make sure you don't get hit by him!" Jake shouted, but Kierch already retreated a few steps to get out of the way of fire.
He wasn't a newbie after all. He was a seasoned veteran, one who even Jake would have to conceded that his skill was worse than.
The moment the zombie leader completed swinging, and was trying to bring his sword back, was when the second round of attacks began.
The load on Jake didn't half when Kierch and Myriad entered. It fell down to nearly nothing.
With two opponents here, and a pesky archer god knows where, the zombie leader was confused more than anything. He didn't know where to attack, who to concentrate on, and he wasn't pressing on Jake like he used to.
He started going on the defensive, moving to the side, and trying to deflect both attacks at once.
But against three swords and one bow, defense was the worst possible move.
From beyond the battlefield, three arrows with a shining red flame dashed toward the zombie leader.
Jake took one look at them and he knew exactly what these arrows were.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"We better move out of the way." He told Kierch as he took more than just a few steps, creating a gap between him and the zombie leader.
He moved so far back that he was slowly approaching the other zombies who had ignored him for a while now.
Kierch also did the same, listening to Jake's words. As he did, the three fiery arrows made contact with the zombie leader's face.
Blast!
Three simultaneous blasts occurred right on his face. Jake saw the health bar of the zombie leader just slid from green to yellow, and his heart skipped a beat.
Now, they were finally equal. At this rate, if they kept going for a few more minutes, then they would definitely be able to destroy this monster.
Looking at such a powerful monster, certainly, he was going to drop was delicious loot that could benefit the guild far too much.
"Come! Let us finish him of-" Jake's voice trailed off as he skid to a halt and looked up.
The smoke of the explosions had just cleared, and what came out was no longer the monster that Jake and Kierch were fighting.
This, well, this was something else.
