There was a moment of silence.
Ming Rusheng averted his sight from her to look into the file and said, "I mean, we still have lots of work to do, so you should stay."
’What was I expecting from this man? I am to blame for being so hopeless,’ Lu Lian cursed herself in her mind and said, "We have finished everything important. The rest work; I’ll make sure to work overtime tomorrow."
Ming Rusheng stared at her, and she turned without even waiting for his reply.
Ming Rusheng stood up and grabbed one file from the shelf at his right side wall as he strode toward her.
THUD!!
She was about to open the door, but Ming Rusheng closed it the moment it opened a little. He stood behind her, resting his hand on the door to not let her open it.
"What are you doing?" she asked, not turning to look at him and as she still held the door handle.
This one is important that we need to finish right away.
"Will you step back?" she said annoyingly as he stood close behind her to shut the door.
"There’s still a place left," he said, not taking his hand off of the door.
Lu Lian turned around to get the file, as the tall figure left a little space between them which made her uneasy. Whatever she tried, she couldn’t deny his close presence always affected her, and she gave into him.
She gulped and took a file from him, "I can’t see it properly." She meant to give her space as she was stuck between him and the door.
Ming Rusheng didn’t budge and looked at her lowered face.
Lu Lian didn’t talk and opened the file. It was not a project she was handling, "I can’t take any new project. I’m resigning soon."
"It’s not a new one," he countered, "From now on, you will handle it. And for now, there is something important that we need to finish."
She looked at him puzzled, and he spoke, "I’m talking about the work in the file."
"I know," She retorted, feeling fl.u.s.tered.
"I thought you were expecting something else," he said, and she glared at him angrily, only to hear him again. "I don’t mind, though. While working, we can take a break like that." His eyes had a meaningful look as he smirked lightly.
"Don’t you even think about it," she warned.
He moved his face closer, staring into her eyes, "What if I do? Not just now, but I think about it every time I see you."
"What do you take me as? Do I look that easy to you?"
"You are the most difficult woman," he replied.

She asked, "Why are you doing this to me? I can’t understand what you even want."
Ming Rusheng noticed her moist eyes and knew what she must feel. He felt sorry for her, but there was nothing he could do, and he couldn’t allow himself to tell her he liked her. He just wanted to try all his attempts to hold her back as much as he could, being sure one day she would leave.
"For now, I want this," saying he leaned to kiss.
"Don’t!" Lu Lian stopped him.
Ming Rusheng didn’t want to stop, but he did.
"Soon, I might marry your friend. Don’t do anything that would make things awkward between the three of us."
Marriage word made him freeze, and he stepped back.
"I’ll take this file home and finish it," said Lu Lian and turned to open the door. Ming Rusheng didn’t stop her and felt lost as if not knowing what to do.
’Should I tell her everything,’ he thought and then realized, ’What if she hates me even more and never even look at me?’
Cursing himself for his past mistakes, Ming Rusheng sat in the chair and understood there was one more thing to worry about, and that was Jiang Yuyan.
’She would never allow Lian to be with me. If she said no, then it can never be possible. Should I talk to her first?’ Ming Rusheng pulled out his cellphone, and he dialed Xiao Min’s number.
The moment Xiao Min received the call, Ming Rusheng spoke calmly, "I would like to have an appointment with your boss."
"It’s possible after one week. Boss went to France," Came the reply from the other side of the line.
Ming Rusheng had no other option but to be patient and wait for Jiang Yuyan to return.
-----------
Lu Lian and Wen Zac met at the same place as last time, the hotel that belonged to Mings. It was the safest place considering the paparazzi following the Wens and Lus after the news about Lu Lijun and Liwei.
Wen Zac didn’t wish any of such news about him and Lu Lian to be out. This hotel was secured to all these things. Moreover, Wen Zac was Ming Rusheng’s best friend, so things were taken care of strictly.
Wen Zac pulled the chair out for Lu Lian to let her sit and sat opposite her around the circular table.
Once she was comfortable, Wen Zac said, "I’m sorry, because of my father, you have to come here again."
"It’s because of my father; in fact, because of my family, I had to come," Lu Lian replied.
Wen Zan felt relieved, "Don’t feel pressured. We can talk normally and spend some time then leave."
Lu Lian nodded lightly, agreeing to it. It was good that Wen Zac felt the same as her and was not forceful for anything.
"My father is in a hurry to get us married because of the trouble created by our siblings," Wen Zac said.
"I can understand. I think soon we would be asked to make a decision."
"Don’t be surprised if you see my father in Lu Mansion tomorrow," Wen Zac teased. ɴovᴇl_Firᴇ.ɴet
It shocked Lu Lian, "Really? I mean...."
Wen Zac nodded, "My father knows I won’t say no, so considering I’ll agree to it, he will ask for the decision from your side."
"Are you forced to say yes?" She asked.
"Not really, but I can’t say no either," Wen Zac informed and asked, "If you have someone you like, you can tell them, so it won’t happen."
"I don’t." She denied.
"Ahh, okay, then we can ask for some more time at least."
Lu Lian nodded, her mind still wandering over When Zac’s previous words that if she had someone she liked.
Wen Zac thought about something and spoke, "Don’t feel that I’m rejecting you or don’t want to marry you. It’s just that I feel it’s too fast, and we should take our time."
Lu Lian came out of her thoughts. "I feel the same."
"Good to know it," Wen Zac added. "But if we end up marrying, then I’ll try my best to be a good husband."
"Thank you."
Lu Lian had nothing to comment over it as she knew one day she had to marry someone, and if it’s Wen Zac, she had to accept him. She didn’t feel anything about him at the moment, but she believed it was possible later. Moreover, he was a nice and easy-going person.
"Can I ask why You can’t say no?" Lu Lian asked.
"Well...."
"If it’s something you can’t share, then it’s fine."
"I believe you won’t tell it to anyone, especially President Lu."
"I won’t."
Wen Zac explained everything to Lu Lian.
It shocked her, and she said, "You did well. She would have never agreed to it."
Just then, Wen Zac’s cellphone beeped, and he checked the message.
"These two." He sighed and scratched his temple with a forefinger that showed there was something to be worried about.
"What happened?" Lu Lian asked.
Wen Zac held his cellphone in front of Lu Lian, and it shocked her too.
There were the new pictures of Lu Lijun and Liwei going out for dinner as the two looked happy and deeply in love.
"I’m sure; just because of these two, we would be a married couple by tomorrow," Wen Zac commented.
"We can say they are just friends."

Wen Zac’s cellphone rang. That was his father, and he picked up the call. Talking for a while, Wen Zac said, "I need to go home."
"You should. Anyways we are done," she said.
"Thanks for understanding." The two left. Just as they reached the hotel’s reception area to go towards the exit, the man who entered the hotel spotted Lu Lian and hurried towards her.
"Ms. Lu," said the man. He was Ming Rusheng’s assistant.
He looked in a hurry as if there was an emergency.
"What happened?" Lu Lian asked.
"Can you please do me one favor?" He asked, trying to catch his breath.
"Tell me."
"Please take this file to Mr. Ming. It’s important, so I can’t give it to anyone," he held the file in front of her.
She didn’t accept it, "You should give him by yourself if it’s important."
"Mr. Ming is not answering calls and just got to know he is here. I have to hurry hospital. My brother’s condition is serious," The assistant replied.
Seeing the desperate assistant, "Lu Lian accepted the file, "You can leave."
The assistant left in a hurry.
"Do you want me to accompany you?" Wen Zac asked.
"It’s fine. You should head home first."
Wen Zac couldn’t leave Lu Lian like this and called for the hotel manager, "Is Ming Rusheng here?"
"Yes."
Wen Zac called Ming Rusheng, but his call went unanswered. "He is not answering calls."
"When Mr. Ming is here, he prefers to stay away from everything," The manager informed.
When Zac was aware of it, "Hmm, I forgot," and instructed the manager, "Take Ms. Lu to him."
Ming Rusheng was not a stranger, and Wen Zac could leave Lu Lian to him.
"Let me know if there is anything." Wen Zac left, and the manager guided her way to Ming Rusheng’s private suite on the hotel’s top floor.
When they reached the floor, the manager rang the bell, but there was no reply for long.
The manager got the call, and he had to leave. He looked at Lu Lian apologetically, "There’s an emergency."
"I’ll wait here," said Lu Lian rang the bell but no opened the door.
The manager couldn’t leave Lu Lian alone there, not knowing when the door would open and knowing who this lady was. He pulled out the card key from his suit’s jacket.
"I have to keep it with me always to use in certain situations," said the manager and unlocked the door.
’Certain situations? What exactly?’ She thought.
"Ms. Lu can go inside," said the manager and left in a hurry.
