made his way to the law enforcement office. This time, no one stopped him, and he was able to see Candace
easily.
Just one night had left Candace looking worn and haggard.

out? That old geezer!"
"Shut up!" Jaden's hand trembled at his side, veins bulging as he fought to contain his anger.
"Why are you yelling at me? It's your own incompetence! Jaden, don't forget, | saved you. If | hadn't pulled you
out of the river, you'd be dead! I'm your lifesaver!" Candace, her nerves shot, couldn't keep up the act. She let it
all out, confident that Jaden, who had always spoiled her, wouldn't mind. Maybe he'd even console her. But this
time, she was wrong.
