Chapter 506

Greta's eyes widened like saucers, as if she'd stumbled upon shidden secret tucked away in a shadowy

nook. Her lips curled into a wry, mischievous grin. "Nathalie, I've figured out how to hit you where it hurts the

most."

Greta had passed out from the pain. When she cto, she found herself in a hospital bed. A "good Samaritan"

had brought her there and stayed by her side. Seeing Greta awake, the woman awkwardly but politely asked,

"Hey, you're finally up. | covered your medical expenses. Can you payback now?" She handed over a thick

stack of bills, and Greta's heart skipped a beat. "Why's it so much? You trying to ripoff?"

The young woman was visibly upset. "How can you say that? | brought you here out of kindness, and now you're

accusingof scamming you?"

An elderly lady in the room sighed, "It's hard to be a good person these days."

As Greta flipped through her medical records, she noticed she'd undergone a full-body check-up with a bunch of

treatments and medications she'd never even heard of. She angrily waved the bills. "I only got injured. Why

would | need all these random tests? Are you working with the doctors to scam me?"

The woman burst into tears. "When | found you, you were out cold in a muddy ditch. You were barely breathing,

so | rushed you here and paid upfront. And now you're accusing me? | should've just left you there."

In the middle of the argument, Cameron walked in. "What's going on here?"

Greta was quick to point fingers. "She's trying to extort me."

The young woman, brimming with righteous anger, laid out the whole story for Cameron. He shot Greta a look of

disdain and scolded her. "Have you caused enough trouble already? How can you be so ungrateful to doubt the

person who saved your life?" Greta felt herself crumbling. "Cameron, at least look at these bills."

Cameron had lost all faith in Greta. He ignored her and addressed the woman. "How much do | owe you? I'll

cover it."

"Forty-four thousand four hundred and forty-four dollars," she replied.

The string of fours made Cameron raise an eyebrow. It was a rather unsettling number. Yet, he kept his

composure and transferred the money to her. "There, it's done."

"Thank you. I'll take my leave now." With a nod, she left, her good deed done.

Only then did Cameron take his time

to look through the bill, his

expression growing more serious

with each line he read. He approached Greta, who was bundled

up like a mummy, only her eyes, mouth, nose, and one hand free.

Greta stared at him hard, as if trying to see through to his aloof heart. "Should be grateful you even

bothered to show up?" she asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Aren't you curious who did this to me?" she demanded through gritted teeth.
