The small room suddenly becstuffy after the bookcase door closed. It was hard to breathe without a single window. However,
it was a perfect hiding place for Lily and Edward.
The two looked at each other without a word, then heard footsteps and someone talking outside.
Someone seemed to have discovered the bodyguards lying at the doorway and rushed into the office, yelling, “Sir?! Sir!”
Lily tensed up and gripped the desk corner beside her as she listened intently.
“What took you guys so long?” Mike's voice was tinged with anger and sounded authoritative.
“Mr. Corden?” Those grunts knew him and were shocked when they saw him.

Mike said, “You imbeciles! Where were you?!”
“Mr. Corden, what the hell happened?”
Mike said solemnly, “Someone barged in and kidnapped the boss, but | got wounded and couldn't stop them. They're a bunch of
losers!”
Although Lily was not outside and could not see him, she knew he referred to the bodyguards lying outside in the last sentence.
“Who were they? How did they enter the office? They need the passcode to get in here!” The grunts were puzzled.
Judging from the question, Lily knew Mike's words did not entirely convince them. Then she heard Mike raise his voice, “How the
f*ck would | know?! Why do you ask me? They nearly stabbedto death, you know? Stop wasting tand f*cking chase after
them!”
“Uh...” After being scolded, the grunts were probably confused and did not suspect anything, significantly since Mike was indeed
injured.
“Mr. Corden, how many were there? Where did they take the boss? How long has it been since they left?”
“Quite a while ago. Just hurry! They dressed up like our workers... Yes, just like you guys! They could be spies working among us.
Are you sure there are none among you?” Mike started accusing them by mixing truths and lies.
It was a perfect diversion that could create rifts within the organization.
“Mr. Corden, we would never betray the organization!”

“How would | know if there's a spy among you guys? If there isn’t, don’t waste tand chase after them!”
The grunts seemed to realize something, and a flurry of their chaotic footsteps soon followed. However, their footsteps gradually
becdistant this time, indicating they had all left.
Lily sighed in relief and thought, ‘It seems Mike is quick-witted. | didn’t know how to handle the situation, but he handled it well. His
wound also helped. They got fooled, and it’s a state of emergency to them now.
‘Still, if someone discovers that Mike's wound isn’t knife-inflicted when they return, it'll expose his lies.’
Lily was about to leave the secret room and tell Mile to settle the matter and leave when she heard something and stopped. As she
expected, one of the grunts had already returned in less than two minutes. “Mr. Corden, in which direction did those men run off?”
After a pause, Mike shouted, “How the f*ck would | know?! Would they sendtheir f*cking location after going downstairs? If |
weren't f*cking wounded, | would've given chase and not asked imbeciles like you for help!”
