After getting an earful, the grunt no longer dared to utter another word. Still, he did not leave.
“What the f*ck are you waiting for?”
“You're injured. Would you liketo send you to the hospital?” The grunt asked tentatively, probably trying to please Mike.
“Thanks, but no thanks! If we can’t get our boss back, we'll all die. You might as well sendto the morgue!” Mike sneered. “Oh,
by then, you'll also get sent there with me, won't you?”
The grunt was terrified by what he had heard and hastily said, “I'll go right away!”
Then he ran off. This time, there were no more noises. However, Mike did not return to the secret room, probably for safety’s sake.
Lily also remained inside, seemingly thinking about something.

After five minutes, the bookcase door made a sound and slowly opened. Mike appeared at the doorway and said solemnly, “You
can’t hide here for long.”
Lily nodded, wanting to leave as well.
“What about him?” Mike pointed his chin to the man on the floor.
Lily glanced over at the man and then looked at Edward. “Does anyone else know about this place?”
Edward shook his head. “I doubt it. | only found out about this place by chance.”
The boss did not expect him to find the secret room and left it unguarded when Edward caught him.
“Then we'll hide him here.” Lily held out her hand toward Edward. “Givethe chloroform.”
Taken aback, Edward fished out the bottle while saying, “How did you know | have it on me?”
“Didn’t you use it on those guards lying outside? Do you think Lily wouldn't know?” Mike grinned, happy that he finally knew
something Edward did not.
Edward caught on and gave it to Lily.
Lily poured the proper dosage of chloroform onto a handkerchief, which she then pressed firmly against the nose and mouth of the
man on the floor.
After a while, she removed it. “He should only regain consciousness at night, and we must stay away from here for now. Let's talk
more at night.”

“Wouldn't others find him?” Edward asked despite himself.
“| doubt they will. They've already searched the office. The most dangerous place is usually the safest. Besides, there are no better
places to hide him, and we can’t just run off with him.”
Edward thought she had a point and nodded.
“Then we'll interrogate him tonight?” Mike suggested eagerly. He wanted to interrogate the man immediately and force him to free
Nick. However, he knew the man would not yield. Mike could only be patient for his son to return safely.
“We'll decide later,” Lily answered.
She got up to leave, but Mike stopped her. “Wait, letsee if the coast is clear.”
Lily stopped and waited as Mike limped toward the door. He looked outside, kicked the bodyguards lying on the floor to ensure they
were still unconscious, and turned before beckoning Lily.
