265 Death Anniversary
A few days before Zhang Jing’s death anniversary, the Zhang family gathered at the old house. Zhang Li Xue’s grandparents, Zhang Xi and Liu Hui Lan returned from C Country, especially for that day.
The usually quiet house had suddenly become livelier with everyone around.
In the morning, everyone woke up earlier and dressed in a dark color outfit before they all went to the grave to visit Zhang Jing.
The family stayed around for a while to clean up the place a little bit and offered their prayers.
It was only when the sun was up high that the family began to leave the place.
Zhang Yi Hai was talking to the triplets when he noticed that his sister was walking alone with her gaze stuck on the phone.
It did not take him too long to guess that his sister was chatting with her boyfriend.
Thinking of her plan to introduce her boyfriend to his father afterward made him frown.
Zhang Yi Hai glanced at their father. He wondered how would their father react once he heard that his sister was in a relationship.

Zhang Yi Hai was not looking forward to seeing his sister bringing that man home. At the same time, he could not help but worry about his sister. He was feeling rather... conflicted.
When they returned to the old house again, Zhang Yi Hai saw that her uncles and aunts, or rather, his father’s friends, were already gathered in the house.
The six of them had gone to the same school and joined the same basketball club. Since then, their relationship has been very close.
Zhang Yi Hai looked at his uncles and wondered if they would help to calm his father once the dating news broke out.
However, Zhang Yi Hai soon realized that he did not know when will his sister bring her boyfriend over.
Seeing that his mother was alone, Zhang Yi Hai went over to her side and offered to help cut some fruits.
Zhang Yi Hai inched closer to his mother and whispered, “Mom, do you know when will my sister bring her boyfriend over?”
Li Qin Yao glanced at the time. “Probably in the evening. Your sister told me that he will be able to come after work.”
Zhang Yi Hai glanced at his sister who was chatting with their grandparents. “Mom, how do you think that my dad will react later? He’s not going to beat my sister’s boyfriend, right?
“Yi Hai.” Li Qin Yao smiled. “Are you worried?”
Zhang Yi Hai quickly retracted his gaze. “Who is worried? I’m not. I’m just a little curious.”
Li Qin Yao laughed as she looked at her dishonest son. This boy was clearly worried about his sister, but he was still denying it.
“Don’t worry. Your dad would not be able to do anything to Bai Qi. I’ll make sure that he won’t be too excessive,” Li Qin Yao said.
At this time, an auntie walked over to inform Li Qin Yao that the food was prepared in the kitchen.
Li Qin Yao turned to her son and spoke, “Yi Hai, go and help to light up the grill. Later, we’ll have some barbecue.”
Zhang Jing was someone who liked to eat meat, especially barbecued meat. On his death anniversary, the family would gather around to barbecue some meat in the backyard. Then, they would talk about Zhang Jing and reminisce their best memories of him.
With his mother’s instruction, Zhang Yi Hai quickly went to the backyard to deal with the griller.
The smell of smoke filled the backyard and soon, the others started to come out to look around.
The triplets looked at the basketball court in the backyard and quickly proposed a match. With the number of people gathering around the house, it was not hard to form a team.
However, no one seemed to notice that the person who would usually be enthusiastic about a basketball match was keeping low.
Zhang Li Xue watched as her cousin, Wei Zi Ming called the others to go out and play together. However, for the first time, she was not very interested in playing with them.
At this time, she had a bigger matter to think about.
A few hours later, Bai Qi was going to arrive and she was going to introduce him to her father.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmZhang Li Xue was conflicted. She thought that she should pick another day to introduce Bai Qi to her father. After all, it was her great-grandfather’s death anniversary. It doesn’t seem quite proper to invite Bai Qi to come over.
However, after discussing this matter with her mother, Zhang Li Xue decided to invite Bai Qi over.
Seeing how everyone was gathered around the house, Zhang Li Xue realized that they could be her biggest supporters.
With her mother, grandparents, uncles, and aunt’s presence, surely, her father would not be too angry when she introduced Bai Qi, right?
Zhang Li Xue could not stop worrying.
The phone in her hand chimed.
Zhang Li Xue glanced at the screen and saw the text from Bai Qi.
His shift had ended and he was on his way to the old house.
Her eyes widened in surprise. Zhang Li Xue stood up and walked over to her mother.
“Mommy!” The moment she called her mother, Zhang Li Xue realized that there were a few of her aunts with her mother as well. Her cheek turned a little pink from embarrassment.
“Alright. You girls help me with the food preparation first,” Li Qin Yao spoke calmly. “I have something to talk to Li Xue first.”
Fortunately, no one seemed to mind what happened. They lowered their gazes and continued with the food preparation for their barbecue.
Seeing that the others were not paying attention to her, Zhang Li Xue pulled her mother to a corner and spoke, “Mommy, Bai Qi is on his way here.”
Li Qin Yao froze when she heard her daughter’s words. A few seconds later, she began to laugh. “So, you call me out because you are worried?”
Zhang Li Xue nodded. Then, she shook her head.
“You silly girl.” Li Qin Yao pinched her daughter’s cheek. “Just open the door for him when he arrived. Don’t worry about your father. I know how to talk to him.”
