Chapter 246
Liam darted forward with lightning speed, kicking the bodyguard's chest and sending him flying back several meters. The man slammed into a display window with a thud, blood spilling from his mouth as his eyes rolled back. He slumped to the ground, unconscious, amidst the shards of broken glass.
The once noisy mall fell eerily silent, the crowd of eager onlookers stunned into stillness.
People who had snapped out of their shock started snapping pictures with their phones, capturing the fallen bodyguard and Liam as he scooped Jovie into his arms.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLiam cradled Jovie, examining the bump on her forehead with concern. He brushed her hair back and tenderly blew on the bruise, his whole being exuding a fierce protectiveness that seemed to chill the air.
Jovie clung to Liam, her sobs breaking through the quiet, "Daddy, it hurts... Daddy, it hurts right here..."
Liam's voice was soft but filled with pain as he comforted her, "Daddy's here, sweetheart. Daddy's got you. It'll stop hurting soon, I promise. How about we get sice cream after this, okay?"
Jovie nodded through her tears, her sobs subsiding.
Once Jovie calmed down, Liam turned his icy glare to the remaining bodyguards, his anger palpable. "Are you blind? Can't you see a little girl? This is a mall, not your personal playground!" His gaze then landed on the haughty woman at the center of it all, and his fury deepened.
He used to think the online stories about stars shutting down streets and shops for their own convenience were just publicity stunts. However, as he witnessed the sarrogance unfolding in real life, Liam felt his blood boil.
What was happening to Biskeland? Instead of celebrating the true heroes like soldiers defending their homeland and scientists dedicating their lives to the public good, people were fawning over those fame-hungry intecelebs and stars.
Liam had nothing against a bit of star admiration, but that blind worship? It was downright infuriating!

Not a hint of regret for their unconscious colleague, just a dismissive glance to whisk him away.
The leader eyed Liam with caution. They were trained professionals, and anyone who could send one of their own flying with a single kick was not to be taken lightly. They wanted to get their charge out without any more trouble.
The celebrity at the center of it all was clearly annoyed, tapping her foot with impatience. The head of security saw that and signaled his team to move out.
That was the last straw for Liam.
They had hurt Jovie and did not even bother to apologize. That woman at the center looked down her nose at everyone, her impatience a clear sign of her inflated ego.
"You hurt someone, and you can't even muster an apology? Nobody's going anywhere until you do," Liam declared.
Liam stood defiantly in the middle of the mall, his expression icy, his gaze piercing, radiating an aura that stopped the security guards and the swarm of fans dead in their tracks.
